There is no shame in going to prep school or a JUCO.
There are a lot of graduating HIgh school students who could use a year at a prep school just to get ready for college.
Keep in mind, there are high schools that cover for their athletes (not saying Havelock does this) and baby them along....and there are some athletes who come from households where the premium isn't on academics....and that slaps them in the face when they don't qualify to get into college.

Regardless, no shame at all in having to go a different route to get to where you want to go.

DE Kendal Vickers of Havelock, NC has had his mind made up to go to USC for months dating back to when Brad Lawing was recruiting him for the Gamecocks. He never publicly committed because early in the school year it did not look like he would qualify. But all of that has changed now. “He’s turned out to be a qualifier,” said his coach Jim Bob Bryant. However, Vickers will not enroll at USC this semester. Bryant said Vickers will enroll at Georgia Military JC this fall and will need to be there just one semester. So, he will play this season for GMA and then he plans to transfer to USC in January according to his coach. That transfer, of course, hinges on USC re-evaluating Vickers in the fall and deciding to take him. He has been talking with Gamecock recruiter Deke Adams and those talks have been positive for Vickers. Vickers will play defensive end or outside linebacker at GMA. Assuming he plays and does not redshirt this season, Vickers would have four years to play three at USC. If counted towards the 2014 class, Vickers stands as the fourth commitment for that class.

I am totally confused. So everyone thought he wouldn't qualify so everyone made their mind he would go to GMAC so he is still going there eventhough he actually did qualify? Did I get that right?

Yes, according to TBS, he now has a qualifying test score but the feeling is that he won't get throught the NCAA Clearinghouse due to the jump in his score. Since he is now a qualifier, he can go to JUCO for only one semester and then transfer in to USC with the 2014 class. If he RSs, he would have 4 years to play 4, but if he plays, he would have 4 years to play 3. If he was a non-qualifier, then he would have to wait 1.5 - 2 years to transfer in.
