I want a 1911 still I'm thinking of just getting a RI or lower end gun and tricking it out with aftermarket parts like an AR.

I bought a Springfield XD subcompact last summer and it has been my favorite gun I have since that time. Used it for CWP class and shot out the bullseye on the test. 3" barrel in 9mm or .40 S&W for ~$399- can't beat it!

I like the XD models, and the xdm models are even better, a quality gun at a decent price from a reputable manufacturer.

Recently bought a Springfield 1911, never been a big handgun fan but always wanted a 1911 because of its history and just all around awesomeness. Gotta say after shooting it around 200 times, it is now my favorite gun to shoot, especially since I can't find any 5.56 for my AR.

My favorite carry gun is a Smith & Wesson® 642 Airweight® .38 Special Revolver. It's light weight, so I can keep it in my handbag depending on where I'm going.

I decided against the FN, and purchased a Sig Sauer 2022 in 40 S&W (Good recommendation from Captain9Dragons). The Sig was $200 cheaper than the FN. It's a little larger than the ideal concealed carry gun, but I really liked it. That's what matters most anyways.
