Grier, who threw for 3,785 yards and 49 touchdowns last season for a school in its first year of varsity competition, displayed outstanding velocity and arm strength and has a fairly compact release. He has a “fast arm” which features a whip-like delivery. Grier already holds an early verbal scholarship offer from East Carolina (which is no surprise considering the 6-foot-2.5, 180-pounder is a perfect fit for Pirates coordinator Lincoln Riley’s offense) and is getting interest from a number of other programs, including Clemson, Duke, Virginia and Georgia.

Grier is only a sophomore, but he hung with the older guys at this event. He has a nice high release, he showed the ability to make each throw that was asked of him, and he really responded to the challenge on Sunday

Grier lead his 7 on 7 team to huge upset of Mallard Creek. His team will represent the Carolina Panthers in 7 on 7 event in Indy next month.

One of the top QB's in the nation for next year. He really likes USC. If we land him or Drew Barker our QB depth would be ridiculous.

Junior QB Will Grier (6-3 185) of Davidson, NC has heard from USC and Clemson. His offers include Florida, Tennessee, Louisiana-Lafayette, East Carolina and Wake Forest according to his father and coach, Chad Grier. "He really liked Clemson a lot and even went down there," said coach Grier. "We really like their coaches and quarterback development but Will kind of cooled on them after (QB) DeShaun (Watson) committed. You don't really want to compete with someone in your same class because it's not really a good situation." Coach Grier said the Gamecocks have shown interest as well. "He was down there for the East Carolina game and coach (Shawn) Elliott and G.A. (Mangus) have come by to see him," said dad. "He is getting interest from pretty much everyone right now. I've got a 20 pound mail bad we haven't even opened yet." Coach Grier named Florida, Tennessee and North Carolina as the schools showing the most interest saying, "Those are the schools recruiting him the hardest so I'd say they're out front." Through eight games Grier has thrown for over 3,000 yards and 36 touchdowns. He has completed 197 passes on 254 attempts with three interceptions while rushing for nearly 700 yards and another four scores. His father did not name a favorite.

Anyhow, it's said that this is a UF/UNC battle for Grier. Both told him he was their #1, according to Grier. He likes UT, but the Dooley situation has him cautious.
