The Jeep 4.0L inline 6 is regarded as one of the most reliable engines out there. People who work at auto parts stores say that they never have anyone buying major components for one. My first car was a 1990 Cherokee, I sold it to upgrade to something newer , and its still on the road today.

Sorry but you must not be aware of how far V-6 stangs have come. I owned a 2009 GT Premium(5-speed) and now I own a 2011 V-6 (6-speed). Factory the v-6 was a tad slower than the 09gt. I installed a airaid intake and bama tuner($700) and the v6(340hp) will now smoke the 09 gt. With slicks on I can run mid 13's on the track and I can then get 32mpg on the way home. The new gt was almost 12000 more than the v6, thats $230 more a month for most. The GT has 420 hp(115) more than the v6. With a procharger ($4300), that is on the way soon, the v6 will have around 475 hp. So I will keep my $7000 and eat the backbone out of most gt's and ss's out there.

its still a v-6, do comprable mods to the current gt and he will still blister you...there is some truth to the old saying "there's no replacement, for displacement"

My girlfriend drove a 1999 Cherokee for about seven years that had well over 100,000 miles on it, and when she traded it in it still ran like a top. Needed the periodic maintenance from time to time, but still ran very well.

She now drives a 2012 Liberty. Very, very good SUV, outside of the gas mileage. I would drive one in a heartbeat.

Also, may be in the minority here, but I like the new Grand Cherokee. Since they redesigned it a couple of years ago, I've thought it was the best looking car on the road.
