I try to consume as less meat as I can. No, I'm not a vegetarian, but I have cut way back on my meat consumption. I've cut most pork out except an occasional slice of bacon or sausage pattie and maybe some ham every now & then. It looks like I'll be cutting Burger King out as well. Pork roasts, pork chops, pulled pork for bbq is gone from my diet. Steaks are a rarity and I eat chicken maybe 3 times a month. My daughter (who is a vegan) says I'm a "Flexitarian". I had no idea there was a name for somebody who decreases their consumption of meat. Lol.

Wouldn't horse meat be real tough since their bodies are loaded with muscles...unlike a cow?

When you go to BK, there's nothing that says WHAT kind of meat you're getting, it simply says "burger".

Not "tough" to eat really, just less fatty and more nutritional. Like buffalo meat (hell of a good burger) or venison is as well.

I had a whopper in Puerto Rico years ago when I worked out there. It was the best one I ever had. I always wondered what was in it....but probably would be better off not knowing.

I absolutely love bison meat!
Probably my favorite red meat, though I don't eat much red meat these days.

It is very similar to other meats in nutritional value and has been consumed in the past in America. In fact, there were horse meat cookbooks sold in the US.

The problem is that when someone orders a hamburger, they believe that they are getting a beef (cow) burger. If you sell it under those pretenses and then it is discovered that your product is NOT what it is made out to be, uh-oh.
Let's be honest. When most people go to a fast food joint they don't care what's in it they just want to eat.

I'd eat horse before any disgusting subsidized cow or chicken in this country. 90% of US meat is unfit for consumption and would be illegal to serve internationally.

When I was in Kenya, I had a zebra steak, which is pretty much a striped horse. It was not much different than a sirloin beefsteak.....the only difference I could tell was that it was slightly darker.
Of course, every day for a month I had been eating goat meat....so I felt like I had taken a step up!

If you want to cut BK out that's fine, but don't do it because of this article. They are dealing with horse contaminated ground beef all over the UK right now, it isn't really a BK problem, and it's not something you should run into in the US..
