I'm amazed at everyone that thinks their offense is going to be so good. Lock is a dogshyte QB with a terrible completion %, tied for lead in INTs in SEC games, has no touch, and makes bad decisions. They put up a ton of points against directional schools (50-65 points) but significantly dropped off against P5 teams. They we're right around PPG in P5 games that we were with Bentley, even when you factor in the FL and Clem games. Lock had a lower TD:INT ratio and completion % than Bentley and even Eason. Mizzou was 2nd in SEC passing yards but 11th in SEC scoring.

As long as Lock is their QB they are at a disadvantage. He'll get drafted because he has good size and has a big arm, but overall he hurts their team. He laid a huge egg after getting so much experience in 2015. Mistakes happen, but for a QB with 8 starts coming into year 2 he needed to be better at reading defenses, less turnovers, taking what the defense gave him, etc...Bentley showed multiple times more composure and better decision making than Lock even with all of that experience he had coming into the season.

As for their defense, their offensive style makes it worse. Too many 30 second three and outs kills a defense. They move too fast. Even after they switched defensive schemes mid-year last year back to their old scheme which was so successful, their TFL and sacks increased, but PPG, yards per play, and yards per game remained about the same. Thy lose a 1st rounder on DL, another is pending court cases with a shrooms possession, and their secondary is terrible.

An SEC road game is never easy, but I am so tired about hearing their prolific offense they are going have. If we continue to build and improve then this is a road game that we should win. Will be a telling game early for both teams, chance to get a conference win and build some momentum.
All very good points. Our dismal offensive stats from last season were mainly due to the first 6 games of totally pathetic QB play and Bentley having to learn on the fly which caused him to struggle against Florida and Clemson. Keep in mind that Bentz had zero reps with the first team before the bye week. He showed enough improvement and passing skills in the Sunday practices with the players that didn't play in the game to get a shot. This year Bentz will now have real game experience, both good and bad, a full Winter, Spring, and Summer as the undisputed leader of the team (he was voted a team captain by the players as a true freshman). He has also spent a ton of time in the film room learning defenses and what to look for. And most of all Roper will have a lot more of the playbook at his disposal this year.

This is going to be a really good offense with Bentz and all the skill players he has to work with. Get ready!!!
