I haven't watched Eason play that much but the QB1: Beyond the Lights show that features Jake Fromm, their incoming freshman QB, kind of paints a confusing picture of him as a player. One minute it shows him being sacked and caving under pressure and throwing 2 int then they show his stats and he throws for a state record of 500 yards?

This thread was a comparison between Bentley and Eason from McElroy's perspective. It had nothing to do with Fromm. Nonetheless UGA might have a pretty good stable of QBs in the future. We have a great QB now. I will be interested to see how ours looks after a couple of years.

Why do people think because a guy plays at USC that they don't have as many stars by their name? Bentley was a 4 star QB and highly touted. May have even been a 5 star had he stayed in highschool. Bentley wasn't an under the radar Connor Shaw type guy. I heard that during march madness a lot too but dozier and Thornwell weren't nobodies. It's time for commentators to start looking at our roster. Deebo, dowdle, Edwards, hurst, the smiths, etc. these guys aren't a bunch of 2 stars here.

On topic of the defense though, there were years that the offense looked pitiful in spring then did fine during the season and vice versa.

We don't really know what the defense is going to look like till all the others get here this summer. Out of that group, we could easily have 3-4 starters and another 4-5 that get a lot of PT.

Hurst was a #2 (I assume - I don't think people recruited him much for football he was all baseball). Deebo was a #4 by one service but was an overall #3 - academics limited his offers and he qualified late in the process. Dowdle was a #3 - which is crazy based on his HS numbers.

Not 2* guys, but not high rated across the board. Bentley is the highest rated of the bunch and may or may not have gotten his 5th star if he stayed in HS.

Dowdle would have been a 5* if he lived in ATL..he is gonna absolutely explode this year. He is the complete package in terms of speed, agility and vision. Needs a little work in pass protection but he'll learn. He is the rare back that can create a big gain out of nothing.

True dat, and Deebo, Edwards and the Smiths might have been 5* also if they came out of ATL (or Tampa, seeing as how both Cain and RayRay are 5* WRs from there).

South Carolina produces a lot of big-time WRs that are obviously 5* talents - after they show out in college and the pros - but I can't remember the last 5* WR that came out of South Carolina.
