We've had plenty of attrition and guys not making it in school even when u have 4-5 commits like joe Harris, Kyle Harris and nick Allison leave or not make it in. There's several more names also. Not good any way u spin it. I'm gonna take this as he wasn't working hard enough. Still doesn't make it a good thing

Kyle Haris' reason for transferring is all on him. Kids dont transfer when there second in rotation. My bet is he did something. Wish him luck in the future.

Cody Waldrop will be next years center. The kid is a beast, hes hungry andI predict that job will be his.

It's just frustrating that we get these highly recruited guys and we can't develop then to build a solid OL with some depth.

IMO there isn't simply enough patience with the OL development.....our OL was in shambles when Wolford replaced Hunt, and poor recruiting during the '07-'09 cycles left a big hole in the depth that we've experienced particularly during the '10 and '11 seasons. We now have some depth and it's continuing to improve, but we've now gone through the remaining few players from those earlier years who had a ton of experience and starts - for better or worse - and moving to the newer OL who have little of both. But making this transition was inevitable: experienced OL weren't going to crawl out of the woodwork....

Losing Harris to transfer and also possibly Matulis to injury hurts our depth, but we're still deeper than we were in both 2010 and 2011. We're looking to bring in another solid to stellar OL class of 4-5 for the '13 class, and are already in strong position for some quality OL for the '14 cycle. There will continue to be some attrition and a few prospects here and there that fail to make it in, but overall we're definitely improving the OL position from what we had from '05-'10, IMO. We just need to let the coaches build the unit up.....

This is the reality of the o-line. Our starting lineup this year consisted of one senior, one junior, two sophomore, and one freshman. There backups were one senior, one sophomore, and two freshman (including Harris). That's only two seniors on the two deep which is not good. The good news is that we have recruited a lot of talented lineman since Elliott came aboard so the fact that a player transfers should not come as a surprise.

That's the way the best olinemen come, with a bit of 'nasty' in em! John Madden talked about drills he would put the oline thru to get them mean, cause he felt (and as a former olineman I agree) that they were softer. This was a product of big kids being brought up passively. We were told "don't hurt that kid, you're too big!" So you have to develop meanness on the field.

It's been in shambles for like six years now, and it's still pretty muchin shambles.

Also we should realize that coming into this season, about 80%+ of the entire career starts for our starting OL unit belonged to only Johnson. 3 of our 5 starting OL (predominantly) had 0 total starts, and 2 of them had 0 games of playing experience. With T.J. graduating we lose all of his 50+ career starts, but for 2013 we also add 50-some starts that Cann, Shell, Robinson, and Patrick compiled: with those starts and overall experience spread out amongst the entire unit and not just with 1 player, our OL should be a much more experienced OL as a unit heading into next season...

The perfect combination would be an OL depth chart that consists of a starting 5 of 4th-yr Jrs and 5th-yr Srs who all have starting experience, a full 2-deep of RS-Fr. to 4th-yr Jrs with playing experience, and 3-5 more OL that are true freshmen that are being red-shirted to gain physical development. Anywhere from a total of 13-15 OL on the depth chart.

With Matulis and Harris next season, IMO we were at a point where all of our incoming OL - should they all make it in - could be red-shirted and we'd still have a full 2-deep. Now with those two either gone or doubtful, our depth at OL took a hit: we're still solid at OT with Gibson, Sport, and B. Stadnick possibly being ready to go for 2013 backing up Shell and Robinson, but our interior will be a bit thin. Still compared to what we went through in '10 and '11 - particularly at the OT position - it's not the worst scenario...it just means that one or more of the incoming OL may be needed to play/add depth next season....

So...guess Waldrop will have to step up.
I'm also holding out hope for Will Sport, Brock Stadnick and Mason Zandi.

But this really hurts depth...hopefully Matulis will be back to at least give us a usuable second unit with Gibson, Sport, Stadnick and Zandi.
