Jeremy Pruitt's status is unknown for Alabama's bowl game. He is replacing Mark Stoops. Is this a step backwards for FSU.

Step backwards? He is going from being a position coach to being a DC. And sure it's the acc but fsu is still a prominent program. I think I heard Stoops was coaching fsu in their bowl game, right? If so then I would think he will stay with bama for NCG

Don't really get the question? Is it a step back for FSU? May be, really depends on how he does. He has the pedigree to be excellent, but it is hard to say when replacing an excellent coach like Stoops.

Its a good move for the Noles because Pruitt recruits an area the Noles have recruited pretty hard recently (southern Alabama).

he said is it a step backwards for fsu. he didnt say is it a step back for the coach. of course, the coach is moving up but fsu is losing continuity and at the same time hiring a position coach to run its defense.

It didnt work for ut when they hired sunseri so i think it is a gamble. as c2 states, he does recruit the area already and is obviously familiar with that part of the nation.

Well he must have updated his original post because it didn't say step backwards for FSU when I replied, it just said step backwards. Still a fairly 'weird' question anyway...I mean when any school loses a proven DC for an unproven DC and prior position coach you don't hear people saying automatically that this is a step forward.

Stoops is not going to coach FSU in the bowl game, he said he would help out with preperations for the game if they asked but he will not be calling the defense. As for Pruitt I dont think he would leave Bama before the NC game, it sounds like he will wait until after the game a la the OC of Alabama from last year.

I just hope this helps UGA with Laremy Tunsil since Pruitt was his recruiter at Bama and they're currently thought to be 2nd behind UGA.

And there is the big reason.
Lots of athletes, and most of those are in FSU's backyard....lockdown the homefront and those elite players will make most any coach look like a damn genius.
