So what is the latest on Carrera? I mean one minute he is like he found heaven, but then he doesn't sign?

The longer this goes without him signing, the less optimistic I become. Hope I'm wrong and he has good reasons for not signing so far, but I have heard absolutely nothing about him since he left Columbia.

If you read Kornblut's article about Carrera "committing", you'll see quoted comments attributed to Carrera about USC basketball players being "my future teammates" and how "It’s going to be a great four years at South Carolina".

Either Kornblut totally fabricated those comments, someone NOT Carrera gave those comments 2nd hand and Kornblut attributed them (wrongly) to Carrera, or something else has happened to totally change the situation. But those comments certainly SOUND like Carrera is committing to South Carolina.

I too have seen way too many questionable things come from Kornblut over the years, but the above comments prevent me from just dismissing this error as PK's over-eagerness to scoop everyone on the story....

Richmond played in the NCAAT the past 2 seasons....USC had losing seasons the past 2 seasons. It's not that hard to figure out....

Things have changed! We ARE NOT the same team that has had 2 losing seasons! Not saying we are headed ti IMMEDIATE PROSPERITY, but I am saying we are heading in the right direction!

William Gunter from TBS reported today that the reason Michael hasn't commited is because he is in summer school taking a class that he has to pass to be eligible.....and he is on track to passing this class. So it had nothing to do with taking other visits or waiting on a decision. There is a rumor out there that Pitt and Memphis are in play, but the inside source says that isn't true.

6-6 Michael Carrera of Venezuela remains undecided as July comes to an end but apparently is choosing between USC and Pittsburgh. That news was tweeted by reporter Brandy L. Sims of the Sentinel newspapers in Maryland. He cited Carrera's coach at Montrose Christian School in Maryland, Stu Vetter, for the information. Carrera visited USC in early July and told some Gamecock players, and some South Carolina media, that he plannedto sign with the Gamecocks. But after returning to Maryland and meeting with his coaches, the decision was made to hold off on finalizing anything until more schools were checked out.

We need to win games before you will see a dramatic improvement in fan participation regarding the Bball program. The hiring of FM has brought a sense of optimism to the program, but we need to win games and be competitive in the SEC before all hell breaks loose around here.
