I see very little emotion, he doesn't talk to (or yell at) players coming off the field and I don't see him pacing the sidelines trying to pump up his team. He sometimes looks like he's on an island all by himself.

I don't know what to think any more. But if this is true, it would sure put a different spin on the cause of so many injuries.

This quote in particular is telling.

ďYouíve got to decompress and get away from a long season,Ē Muschamp said. ďThatís good for coaches, thatís good for players, thatís good for everybody.Ē

https://www.thestate.com/sports/coll...223153950.html

No, coach. It's not good. It's how you get your ass embarrassed by a crappy mid-level ACC team. He and his staff got some big fat raises and decided to goof off instead of work hard.

We deserve better than this.

ON TARGET!! FIRE FOR EFFECT!!!

To be fair the article says the coaches used that time to recruit and the players worked with the strength staff. That may not be practice, but it's still work. Before the bowl everyone here was complaining that it wasn't an exciting game and it didn't really matter, and people are always complaining we aren't recruiting well enough. So instead of having a few extra practices for the bowl that we couldn't even fill half a stadium for he spends the time recruiting and now we want to say he's "goofing off". Not sure if you're intentionally lying about what the article says or you just lack basic reading comprehension.

I always thought the main benefit to making a bowl was the 15 extra practices you got. Guess I was wrong.

"Decompress" sounds more like goofing off. Did they look like they have been working with the strength staff?

Seems you missed the bolded portion of the article....28-0 is the result.

Other schools do it differently, including Virginia, which is having itís younger player practices now. Muschampís staff focuses on recruiting and the players only work with the strength staff.

2 things:

1) I recall SOS saying that Nick Saban worked too much...now, SOS has been out of college coaching for 3 years and Saban is playing in his 4th straight NC game? Had to do a little thinking but I think that is right...

and

2) Perhaps, just perhaps, Boom is admitting that no matter how much they practiced, this was as good as this team was going to get. I can think of one major and several minor things that could have produced positive changes and results, so why can't he?

I wanted to, but I was banned for referring to Muschamp as a big, obese non-winner. Probably a good thing, seeing as how things went down. I was about to flip out during the game.

Maybe, but recruiting is basically over for the 2019 class. I assume he means they were working on future prospects - 2020 & 2021. But somehow that seems like a lame excuse when you have a post-season bowl game and you are trying to build a reputation.

Sometimes appearances are deceiving but it appears to me that they took time off because they thought the game would be a cakewalk. The early raises for the offensive staff may have made them complacent too. Why give raises before the season is over?

Muschamp probably works twice as many hours as I do during the season. "Decompress" probably means something very different to him than it does to me.

It sounds like you must think Muschamp lied and he didn't go recruit and the players didn't work out. If you're going to make that kind of claim you need more evidence than "we lost real bad."

Seems you missed the whole point of what I was saying. A week ago it seemed like the general consensus was that the Belk bowl wasn't THAT important, now we're mad that Muschamp was wasting his time recruiting. If you think we should have practiced more instead of recruiting that's a discussion worth having, but don't say he wasn't working because he prioritized recruting. Muschamp does always say that football is a developmental game, but I think he also says that recruiting is the lifeblood of your program or something to that effect. Obviously both are important.

Bingo! Puts that myth to rest.

I wonder when all is said and done, how much $ did we lose by scheduling and overpaying Akron to ensure bowl eligibility, only to then wind up with a low-rent bowl that no one other than some of the fanbase cared about.

First the excuse makers said it was a meaningless game. Now practice is meaningless because the coaches were recruiting. With most recruits having already signed, we are 11th in the SEC in recruiting. But guess what?!!! That's meaningless too.

Tell me about that moral victory vs our rivals again??

Wake up, people. You're embarrassing us.

What consensus? Did you take a poll?

Seems you're missing the point....the guy makes $4.2 mil/yr and gets out-coached in CLT by a team that in fact did use the extra practice time.

Criticism is warranted and perhaps more.
