Funny thing about ole miss

They can get away with calling their team the "Rebels". Just funny with all of the NCAAP flap over the flag here and other stuff like that, I'm surprised something hasn't been said about it yet.

I'm thinking that there have been several instances in which the NAACP protested, but apparently nothing has really come of it, at least not enough to make them change their mascot.

Not really

They used to fly the Conferderate Battle Flag around the field, and
their Fight Song was actually DIXIE for a long time. . . I'm thinking
into the late 70s, but due to NCAA, and NAACP pressure, they did away
with all that, and changed the Confederate Battleflag Helmet logo
years ago.

Ole Miss does not have a sideline mascot (and hasn't since 2003), and Colonel Reb is not used as a logo in an official capacity any more. So you're factually incorrect there.

they did, but then tuberville went around the frat houses telling them it hurt recruiting, and the administration banned 'sticks' from the stadium, so it became both impractical and unseemly, so it stopped. it was still going strong as recently as the late 80's. you won't see one in the whole stadium now.

Whether or not they show up at home games, I saw a lot of Confederate flags flying in the stands after the Cotton Bowl win.

I remember I was watching an Ole Miss game back around 2000 or so. Ole Miss scored a TD. It was a black player that scored and he was celebrating with his teammates that were like 90% black. But then you see a male cheerleader with a huge confederate flag run by and hear a cannon go off, and then they gave us a view of the crowd that was 90% white waving a bunch of little confederate flags and cheering. I thought to myself, "something just doesn't seem right with this picture."

What section were you in? I was in the Texas Tech endzone area, and I saw one the entire bowl game. If you say you saw it on TV, I'm calling shenanigans. I have that whole game on the laptop, I didn't see a single one the entire game.

It's become kind of a faux pas to fly the thing at games. Only out of staters even try.

Now you're just being silly. Cheerleaders at OM haven't used the confederate flag since the early 70's, and as sticks were banned in the mid-90's, there haven't been large swarms of confederate flags since pre-Tuberville Ole Miss era.

Anyway, don't you guys have your own racial problems? Did you watch Borat? Those SC frat kids were wonderful human beings, what with hating the jews and blacks and all that.

Yea, they agreed to end the boycott if we moved the flag from the dome to the grounds....... so how did that work out?

they used to do good work, now they just seem to be opportunist....... but i'd be fine with removing the flag just so they would stfu!
