This morning as I was leaving I noticed that a tree had come down next to the house. It just missed it by 2-3 feet.
Since it wasn't down when I came home from work yesterday, it had to have fallen sometime last night. I didn't hear a thing. It did do a lot of damage to a really nice maple tree in the yard. I've already called someone to take care of the tree but was just wondering if anyone else has lost trees during the last few storms. It seems like I have seen more trees down lately....

If it makes you feel any better we've had about 5 trees come down over the past few years. 4 of them were Bradford Pear trees and that's a pain to clean up.

i have heard that that is one of the biggest issues with bradford pears, they tend to be weak at points where the tree splits, river birches are the same way

Well I don't live in SC, but I do live in one of the areas in Georgia that got flooded a few months ago. We've had alot of rain since then. The ground is so saturated that I do know of people that lost trees because during the last couple of storms, we've also had wind advisories to go along with the rain. Not a good combo. |
