Rogers/Watson/Summers/Lattimore Comparison

I'm not saying anything about lattimore...it just came to mind. These 4 guys were very desired running backs coming out of HS and I was just curious as to how they compared in their SR season of HS

Rogers - Led the nation in rushing (1,781 yards) as a senior and tied for third in TDs with 14

Watson - Couldn't find SR season stats but his career HS stats are higher than rogers in yardage Eighty-eight touchdowns, 6,766 rushing yards

Summers - South Carolina's all-time leader in career rushing yards (9,076) and in career touchdowns scored (127) [at the time of the article]
SR stats 2002 rushing stats were: 223 carries for 2,308 yards, 21 touchdowns and a per carry average of 10.3 yards

Lattimore - SR stats had 260 carries for 1,898 yards and 31 TDs as a senior plus 675 receiving yards...different system as the other guys

We all know that Rogers did great things here. Watson was on his way and so was Demetrius.

Lattimore seems like a good guy. I hope his career at USC is long!

Summers had over 2300 yards, 21 tds and an average of 10 a carry? Was he not even mentioned in the Heisman race that year?

The action was confirmed Tuesday night by USC sports information director Kerry Tharp. Spurrier informed his team at a meeting Tuesday that a player had been dismissed saying there are three ways a player can be dismissed from the team... fighting with a teammate, stealing and using drugs. I was really bummed with the Summers ordeal. He was something special. It's almost as though he had Jedi powers because he didn't look fast or super quick, but people just couldn't grab him. That was crazy to watch.

i wasnt following recruiting when watson was here, how big of a recruit was he?....was he like Summers?(wasnt he #1 RB?)

I had a kid in my college class who said he'd see Summers on seedy corners in Lexington buying and selling drugs. I asked the guy what he was doing around those areas, and he said he had a friend that lived in the poorer area,. I felt I could believe him.

Summers and Watson, both outstanding backs, both a waste.

I think Derrick Watson got over 200 yds in the Shrine Bowl the year he played. They guy could just smoke it.

Squeaky was a beast. I still feel he may have been the most physically gifted athlete we've ever had.

Summers was so smooth he never looked like he was running hard, but people couldn't keep up with him
