Stranded?

For this wonderful snow day, I'm laid up in the house doing some cleaning, played some PS3 for a bit. Now I'm watching one of my favorite movies, Cast Away.

So now I contemplating which situation would you rather find yourself in, if faced with it obviously, stranded alone like Cast Away or with a group like in Alive? Albeit you don't have to eat others to survive. You'll be rescued after X amount of days in both situations.

Pick one!!

I'll have to go with Cast Away. I hate the cold and the fackin snow.

If I knew I'd be rescued in X-amount of days, then I'd pick Cast Away as well. I wouldn't want to be stuck in the snow and I love the beach.

So basically, I'm not going to die and I'm going to be rescued. Would I rather be stranded on a deserted island or stuck in the snow with my friends? Taking the risk out of this game doesn't nearly make it as fun.

Life is about experiences. Count me in for the "Alive" scenario.

Here is the downfall of the "Cast Away" scenario: That type of isolation would drive a man insane. Sure you are rescued, but how do you reemerge into civilization and function or cope?

In the "Alive" scenario, you just have to be the hungriest to survive. You have shelter and some supplies, as well as human companionship to past the time. Sure there is a little issue with the whole feral nature of the situation, but I would contest that man would be able to justify their actions and readjust to society quicker than the "Cast Away" scenario.

Actually I love the Hannibal Lecter character, but fava beans and chianti just isn't my style.

Talking to a volleyball and eating coconuts appeals to me more than eating my friend(s) and freezing to death. And if I'm on a tropical island, I could find a secret rum stash, a la Pirates of the Caribbean.

In a true "cast away" scenerio, yeah it would be difficult. But if that truly happened to someone...and they got rescued...they would do the talk show circuit and probably write a best selling book. Then all the news stations would bring them on as an expert if someone else got lost at sea. Probably show live shots of the search as the host interviews you.

Hot or Cold?

Since the scenerio says you get rescued, wouldn't know that till I'm home, right? Guess I'd seek treatments that could help.

What if you got frostbite in your hands and feet? You'd know that wile still in the cold.
