Hate to be a downer...

and ill probably be bashed for this but i watch this video, and it makes me wonder why all the preseason hype? Im usually a sunshine pumper, but after watching this video, i have been brought back down to earth. there is clearly a ton of problems that needs to be fixed.

1st up: Chick-Fil-A Bowl

We clearly need a 2nd or 3rd RB that can step in and take the load off of Marcus. Miles and Maddox stepped up in this game, and it makes me believe Miles can be that guy. Then i start thinking about what he did the rest of the year. We have no clue about Shon Carson yet.

Garcia cant be blamed for every INT that was thrown, cause the throw to DL Moore was dead on, but DL Moore bobbled it and it was gone. The other 2 was clearly Garcias fault on under-thrown balls. We need improved play from the QB. His decision making is way off sometimes.

Then we move on to the SEC Championship game. South Carolinas worst performance of the year. Our guys are going to have to be able to get it together in huge games like this. Our best DB, Gilmore, was burned all night. Our secondary is going to have to improve GREATLY in order to make a run at the SEC title game again. Auburn was the best team in the country, but our performance should have never been that bad. At least the first time we played them, it was respectable.

Now that i have said this, do you see us being able to make these changes? Until i see it with my own eyes, im going to say we are only as good as our last game.

I don't see how some one could "bash" you for stating facts (i have not watched the video yet) but you are kinda looking at the glass as half empty. There are more things to be positive about then negative. We do need improvement and our coaching staff is working on it.

Turnovers and special teams coverage are the reason we lost that game. Both of which can be fixed. Oh and Lattimore getting knocked out on his first touch didn't help either.

I don't think that is a downer comment just an honest observation. You're not going to win a game with five interceptions, usually. Yes, we really need someone to step up to behind marcus, don't know who that will be but we will see soon. SEC Championship game I knew we were going to lose, auburn was just too damn good, and had a team with 24 seniors on it.
Offensive line will improve in elliots second year, IMO, and it will be easier for the other running backs to improve also. EJ is changing up the secondary already, I trust that he knows what he's doing. I think we might have another mediocre year on ST, unless this new coach get's it straigtend out really fast.. The best news is that we know what needs to be fixed and the coaches seems to be doing that. We will be improved, but I don't understand the hype. It's unwaranted, but I can see how they think we will be better next year with the talent we have on our team. As we all know the rankings mean nothing based on talent.

The one thing I noticed is the impressive pass rush Florida State had and can only hope that is the direction we are going. Also, Reed was a beast in that game and he showed the importance of special teams.

Anyone's pass rush is going to be far more effective when a guy like Lattimore is out of the game.

FSU forced a lot of our mistakes. They also have more pre season hype than we do. Or at least they're pre season ranking shows that.

It was one game, nothing more. We are returning our key players and picked up some great recruits that may have something to do with the rankings. You can't judge a team by one game.

The entire year, we saw the difference in the entire team from when Marcus was in the game and when he wasn't. Even in the Clempson game, our offense didn't do much because he wasn't being featured.

We need either:

1) an offensive line who will step up the entire 60 minutes and not just when ML is in the game

or

2) a back-up who can do what Marcus does in breaking tackles behind the line of scrimmage and getting positive yards.

You figure out which one is more likely to happen.

That's a legitimate list of shortcomings. It looks pretty grim when none of the areas where we kick ass are mentioned, and we certainly have those too.

Like every team, we had some dropped passes and stupid qb mistakes, but "a ton of problems to be fixed?" Not buying that. There's nothing mentioned in your downbeat assessment that can't be improved.

i think sos knows where we need help the most...special teams..and consistency in the qb spot. hopefully, he will make the necessary changes at qb before the game gets out of hand or when he senses they will. i have said this before, when garcia loses a major component like lattimore he goes to pieces. we cant have that if we expect to win the sec. he needs to suck it up and focus and get his mechanics right...like he has never heard that one before. lol. maddox and miles rose to the occasion though. they didn't give up.

Don't know or care about pre-season hype, but we should be around #24 and those last games are about right for #24.

Wanna move up from #24? Start playing better in big games, especially at a few key positions.
