Love then now is okay just missing the energy they used to have in every single song. I'm wondering if it affected Chester negatively. He had to do a lot of screaming rather than singing.

Never cared for Linkin Park.

...but then again, I don't like any of the "let's break it down real slow, croon or rap and then get metal on you" bands. Just not my style.

Hybrid Theory is one of, if not my all time favorite album. My favorite 3 bands in no particular order tho are Linkin Park, 311, and Breaking Benjamin. As far as their progression as a band, I like that they try to reinvent themselves a little bit every album, and I definitely respect that they do it, especially considering what they had to go through to get signed and every label refusing to sign them or trying to change their rock/rap style cuz they said it wouldn't work. Then they finally got a deal where they could do the album there way, and the label still made them release "One step closer" first because it was the most traditionally rock song on the album. I love a lot of their new stuff, but they'll never duplicate Hybrid Theory again imo, but that's pulling hairs, cuz I still love their new albums as well.

Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa... lol. I agree about the "then", and I agree they have changed, and imo the older stuff/style is better, but I would hardly call their newer stuff "pop". Nickelback, for instance as I'm sure we both agree, is a complete sellout band that tries to call themselves a rock band, but everything they make is made to purpose sell to the masses. Linkin Park is changing and so forth, and I would agree if you said its not as good as their older stuff, but changing is one thing, changing to be a pop sellout band is another, and I don't think LP is selling out, just changing.

all started hard with their own specific soudn that was new and amazing...
all also dropped into more mainstream by experimentation and different themes
Aaron Lewis of Staind was married, happy and angry...then he got divorced and went sad

Nickelback sounds the exact same album after album after album...diaf.

I lvoed the Then LP, but now? not so much...its shameful, imho

Chester Bennington + A7x + Phil Labonte from All that Remains would make my all star concert crew

Ah I got you then. I thought you thought that wan an LP song. I think LP had it's own unique sound but Chester couldn't take it for a whole concert/track anymore. Guy had to lose his voice all the time. So they sold out into a more mellow sound. I don't mind selling out unless you claim to not be a sell out when you obviously are. (Ex: Lil Wayne obvious sell out I like his music but don't lie and say you're still ghetto when you're selling out to be rich.)

Not all bands / artists are sell outs, some maybe because their record labels only care about making $$$ and some bands change under pressure from this, but many don't. I have no idea why LP changed and don't care really. I like the intense hardcore band they use to be and I like the newer more mellow version too. Both good music.
