I'd like to give a kudos to Coach Staley and her girls.
I hope Hyman is listening, because so much of what she is saying should apply to our mens' team. She has been here 4 years, and looks to have turned this program around. Biggest thing to take away is that she says fans want to see progress. 21 wins this year, I call that progress and it sounds like she is continuing to rake it big recruits.

Staley is the best basketball coach (men's or women's) we've had in a long time. She's simply excellent at every aspect of coaching at the D1 level. Assuming we can keep her in Columbia, her program could become one of the elites in women's basketball in just a couple years, and I'm confident she would keep it at an elite level perpetually.
I would love to hear her honest assessment of the mens program. |

That's right - and her program continued to improve every year while Horn's has worsened each season.

The thing about Staley as opposed to Horn is that Staley has been able to recruit elite talent because for Women's Basketball IMO she is an elite head coach - was the fastest coach in WBB to 100 wins I believe and is the all-time winningest coach at Temple. She's had success at pretty much every level as a coach short of winning the whole thing, whereas Coach Horn has had a brief moment of success at WKU.
In Horn's case you could make the argument that that success was more of a thing where the talent just came together and team chemistry carried it: With Staley it's more of a sustained level of success that has carried over several groups of talent, so it seems more attributable to her coaching style and ability to develop her teams. It would be nice if we could land a quality, proven coach like that for our men's program...

Our women's basketball could easily get to the level of our baseball team soon, not necessarily national championships, but being top 10 year in and year out

I agree; I really believe that Dawn Staley is the heir apparent as queen of the SEC. I am so excited about the future for her program.

I agree, but we better get out the BIG checkbook, because Tennesse will be looking for a coach soon. Summit is a living legend, but she can not continue much longer. It will be a test to see how much Hyman is committed to the Women's program.

They're going to promote one of their assistants.

Why can't she replace Horn?
