I don't really think anyone carrying is going to be able to do anything when the guy droppped in out of nowhere unexpected. Some witnesses thought it was a stunt, part of the movie promotion or something, people are dressed in Batman costumes etc. PLUS he threw tear gas, and had a vest, and again, there's the "WTF" factor which plays to his advantage. Unless you're willing to engage in a firefight while a guy is blasting randomly three feet in front of you and your kids, with buckshot, your only option would be to hit the floor and hope he's going to reload (which he did, but by then the tear gas is taking effect). I dunno. Anything short of a tac team wouldn't have dropped this guy given the way he did it.

Maybe we need to train and equip all mall security guards with AR15s.

The guy who did the Norway thing a year ago surrendered without a fight also I believe. Its very strange.

I don't think anything could have prevented this. It was well orchestrated to the point as to when he started the attack. There's probably a special place in hell for people like this.

Supposedly some are canceling and most all in big cities are increasing security to prevent copycat killers.
