The illegal corn sour mash comes off the still at 180-190 proof if double twisted. It's usually cut to 90-100 proof with spring water. A good way to check the proof is to shake the mason jar and look at the bubbles, known as bead around the top of the likker. It should also burn with a pure blue flame. Any yellow means contaminants. A lot of the mountain folk also make apple brandy which is excellent. Of course, since it's illegal I've never touched the stuff. Hear that Ya dang revenuers?

I know where to find it in the Fair Grounds on the day of games. Row 11 is all I am saying.....

There's a place right down the road from Clemson that sales the stuff. It's not any of the strong stuff like Popcorn Sutton made but I hear it's good stuff. You gotta know the right people to get that stuff

Haha When I went to Nashville for the Vandy game, I stopped in at The Bootleggers Inn on Broadway and they had a wide selection of different flavored "white whiskeys" which were the Popcorn Sutton brand.

I live here in East TN and can get it, though don't ask me to ship any...if you are my way, send me a PM and maybe I can hook you up. THe stuff that I get is $20/quart and can only get it when it is "ready". It comes in several flavors, but the apple pie is the most palatable. Anyone selling it on the internet in an obvious way is not real moonshine IMO. The stuff I get comes in a glass mason jar with no labels. I "ordered" a couple of quarts for an upcoming backpacking trip. I ordered mountain blackberry and apple pie. Good luck in your search.

what they sell is unaged corn whiskey, which is exactly what moonshine is. Moonshine just gets its name from the fact it's illegally made. Save yourself the headache and potential trouble, just go to one of those 3 places

My friend brough moonshine down for the ECU game from this place... moonshine was damn tasty and it hit the spot. This place is located in DT Greenville I do believe.

I've been reading "The backpacker's field manual" in preparation for some trips I plan to take soon. Nowhere in the nutrition section does it recommend bringing moonshine though lol
