UVA To Be Invited to Join Big 10 Early Next Week

Unnamed sources within the Big 10 have said they will invite UVA to join early next week. Also said SEC is trying to get UNC and Duke to join SEC.....also talking to VaTech and NC State. If UVA goes to the Big 10 that absolutely opens the door for VaTech to join the SEC without any reservations.

It has been rumored for some time that clemsux and free shoes u would eventually go to the Big 12.

The ACC will die when one of the North Carolina schools leaves. When one leaves, the other two will follow. Wake will stay in the ACC. It's going to happen, and if Clemson, FSU, Miami, and VT don't make their moves now, they may not be able to later.

So it begins. Again... I know normally the SEC wouldn't add two or more teams from the same state but Duke and UNC would be great moves for the SEC to move in basketball and UNC is a great baseball school as well. 18 teams won't work the SEC would have to expand to 20 for easier scheduling. I made this up a couple of weeks ago. Image a conference that extends from Oklahoma to Florida, from Texas to Virginia, from Kansas to North Carolina, from Atlantic Ocean to the plains of the Midwest. The SEC would dominate college athletics from now until the end of the time, image the money, image the markets, image the championships, and image the country hiding in fear when S-E-C is even mentioned, the SEC is hated right now but we will become the most feared conference in the United States.

Keep the East and West Divisions Each with 2 subdivisonal pods with 5 teams each, however to determine who plays in the SECCG for their respective conference will be overall SEC record with divisional and subdivision records used as tie breakers. I included Oklahoma State and K-State working on the assumption that the B1G goes after Texas and Oklahoma since these two schools would be an instant upgrade for the B1G.

Eastern Division
Northeastern Subdivision
1. UK
2. Vandy
3. UT
4. UNC
5. Duke

Southeastern Subdivision
1. VT
2. USC
3. NCSU
4. UGA
5. UF

Western Division
Central Subdivision
1. Bama
2. Ole Miss
3. Auburn
4. LSU
5. Miss State

Southwestern Subdivision
1. aTm
2. Arky
3. Mizzou
4. KSU
5. OSU

Scheduling would be as follows 8 game schedule
4 Subdivision games
1 permanent cross rival so all tradition rivalries can remain intact for the schools whose permanent opponent isn't really a rivalry like Arky and USC these schools can have the option to change permanent opponents every 10 or 20 years but have the option to not change if both schools agree.

Adding Duke and UNC wouldn't be football moves they would be basketball moves since that is really the only sport the SEC lags in. I can deal with one or two ehh schools in football but if they help in basketball I will take it.

I think it would be better to not have any divisions......just play your "rival" game and 7 others each year. Then play the other 7 and your "rival" the following year. That way you play every team every 2 years.

Pretty sure this year they have to pay jones, dooley, and fulmer for one more year. Also they screwed thenselves with basically a mens athletic dept and a womens athletic dept that they combined.

I think we'd have a good shot at Georgia being our rival if this ever was the case. Their current rival is Auburn, who obviously would want their rival to be Bama.

If it wasn't Georgia, it think it would be either a team from NC in the ACC we are poaching (not Duke - they'd get UNC b/c I HIGHLY doubt we'd go after Duke and not get UNC with them) or Tennessee. If its UNC/Duke added - we'd definitely get UGa/Tenn. If Duke doesn't come along, could be any of the below.

Obviously this is all assuming expansion continues....it was fun to think about though.
