May happen - but the only way I think you would get to play both every year guaranteed is if a 9 game league schedule is adopted.

There is no way Bama/UT, Auburn and UGA is going to let their historical rivalries die this isn't the Big XII when teams leave and they just give up the rivalry when they could continue them as OOC. These two rivalries are as old if not older than the SEC itself. I would rather not expand but be able to keep historic rivalries in place, that is what the SEC holds very dear other than National Titles and winning is all about history and tradition.

'06 was the first year it became permanent. '02 and '03 it was tested.

Did a Google search on this and all I could find were bloggers and one old post from SBNation on 12-1-12. That story had GT and UNC leaving. It may be out there but on a quick search I could find nothing but blogger guys (??? types).

I don't think UNC and Duke would leave since they basically run the ACC, and since they have higher priority on basketball they would stay. FSU and Clemson should leave for the Big XII and then have the Catholic 7 from the old Big East come in and basketball be the main priority for the conference. As long as the ACC sponsors football Clemson will never leave however.

Duke and North Carolina would run the table in basketball in the SEC.

If basketball is their only concern, moving to the SEC wouldn't be a bad move.

I am looking at it from both sides why Duke and UNC would leave and why they would stay. Either way they are the top dogs in basketball in either conference anyway. Another reason why they stay is they have almost complete power to give that all up to be just equals with other universities don't see that happening.

Oh I'm not really trying to disagree. I don't see them leaving. I was just making the argument that they would have success in basketball here if that was their driving motivator.

Honestly, maybe UNC would finally gain a football identity if they moved out of their little shell called the ACC. It almost looked like they had one before Davis was booted. That defense was SEC worthy.

Yeah right. Their alumni will not have it, period.

This is UVA we're talking about, they think even Wake Forest's fans are a little unclean.

And no UVa fan would ever be caught dead going to State College for a football game. Unless they are de-loused and decontaminated afterwards.
