The Official 2014 'Who is Left?' Thread

I've compiled a list, based on reports from 247, of USC recruits in the Class of 2014 that summarizes and (sort of) ranks them based on two things: (1) their rank at their position, and (2) their interest in USC. Looking at the number of high-talent recruits that have USC listed high in their interest, it tells me that a Top-10 2014 recruiting cycle is ours to lose.

As for rank/position, each recruit has his position listed, and their rank at their position in parentheses. So, PQB(8) means he's ranked as the #8 Pro-style QB in the country.

As for interest, I divide the list up based on the number of teams the recruit has listed as being interested in. If he has only one team listed as an interest, he's at the top of the list. Also, since it would be pointless to make on this site where the recruit has not listed USC as an interest (with a FEW exceptions), it stands to reason that recruits at the top grouping of this list place USC as their sole strongest interest, "alone at the top."

The next grouping includes recruits who have USC tied at the top with only one other team. The grouping after that includes recruits with USC tied at the top with more than one other team. In each grouping, I list recruits based on their position on the field, offensive to defensive, line positions first.



Donell Stanley - OT(7) - SC - USC alone at the top, [with Bama, Clemson and UNC tied 2nd].

Bentley Spain - OT(5) - NC - USC promoted to alone at the top, and UNC alone in 2nd.

Kevin Crosby - TE(7) - SC - USC alone at the top, with Florida, Clemson, [and UF] tied at 2nd.

Shaq Davidson - WR(5) - SC - USC alone at the top, with Clemson, UNC, and OSU tied at 2nd.

Derrell Scott - APB(1) - NC - USC alone at the top with Clemson, ND, OSU, and Tenn tied at 2nd.

Dexter Wideman - DT(8) - SC - USC alone at the top listed as a true, red-ink “Favorite”. Clemz only one listed (a distant) 2nd.

Naquez Pringle - DT(12) - SC - USC alone at the top as a red-ink “favorite” with Clemson a distant 2nd.

Bryson Allen-Williams - OLB(16) - GA - USC alone at the top, but no longer listed as a red-ink favorite. Lot of 2nds: Bama, UGA, GT, Michigan, UNC, UCLA and So. Cal. tied 2nd.

Darin Smalls - CB(32) - SC - USC alone at the top, Clemson alone in second.



Kalan Ritchie - TE(15) - SC - USC and Clemson tied at the top.

Blake Bone - WR(91) - SC - USC and Clemson tied at the top.

Joe Blue - OLB(20) - SC - [USC COMMIT!]

Dominique Brown - CB(21) - FL - USC and FIU tied at the top.




Drew Barker - PQB(6) - SC - USC, UK, Louie, UNC, Tenn, and Vandy tied at the top.

Damien Prince - OT(2) - MD - USC, Bama, FSU, Mich, OSU and VT tied at the top.

Josh Malone - WR(11) - TN - USC, ND, OSU, UT and Vandy tied at the top.

Terry Googer - WR(26) - GA - USC, UNC, Louisville, ND and UGA tied (USC was alone at the top about a week from this edit on 2/5/13)

Braxton Berrios - ATH(36) - NC - USC, UNC, Clemson, VT, WVU and NC State tied at top.

Peyton Newell - DT(11) - KS - USC, and Nebraska tied at the top with Kansas, KSU, and NC State tied 2nd.

Poona Ford - DT(21) - SC - USC, Ole Miss, Louisville, and Tenn tied at the top.

Keyon Brown - WDE(10) - FL - USC, Miami and FSU tied at the top.

Deondre Clark - SDE(12) - OK - USC, UGA, LSU, Ole Miss, and aTm tied at the top.

Anthony Moten - SDE(23) - FL - USC, Miami and UF tied at the top.

D'ronzjiah Mathews - OLB(23) - FL - USC, Miami, Clemson, UNC and USF tied at the top.

Deshun Davis - ILB(15) - AL - USC, Auburn, Tenn and LSU tied at the top.




Jacob Park - PQB(8) - SC - VT is listed as the top pick. Bama, UNC, and UGA tied 2nd. USC has dropped off the radar.

Caleb Kinlaw - RB(34) - SC - UT at top, but USC, UNC, Clemz and OSU tied for 2nd.

Milan Richard - TE(9) - GA - UGA at top, but USC listed high interest tied with Clemson, Ole Miss and Vandy

Marlon Humphrey - CB(1) - AL - Bama at the top, but USC, UF, and Miss. St. tied at 2nd.

Ronnie Clark - S(10) - AL - Bama and Auburn tied at the top, but USC and Clemson tied at 2nd.

Zeek Rodney - DT(40) - SC - No offers. Lists only two "cool" interests, but his timeline shows he had 2 unofficial visits in October and two in November, and he's coming to USC on Junior Day, Feb. 4. To me, the timeline speaks louder than his interest list on 247.

Da'Shawn Hand - SDE - #1 recruit in the country - VA - Michigan and VT tied at the top, with USC, Bama, and UF tied 2nd.

Jacob Pugh - OLB(20) - FL - Bama and FSU tied at the top. USC, UGA, Miami, UNC, So. Cal., and UF tied 2nd.

Shaun Hamilton - ILB(12) - AL - Auburn alone at the top, with USC, Bama, Clemson, UF, Tenn, UCLA and So. Cal. tied at the top.

2014 class is going to pretty on paper because it will be offensively heavy.

USC will take 1 QB, probably 1 RB, 3 WR, and 1 TE to go along with the typical 4 or 5 OL.

Getting Barker, Scott, Berrios, Googer, Davidson, Ford, Crosby, Stanley, Spain, and 2-3 other linemen puts USC in Top 10 land before even thinking about defense.

So I'm thinking a breakdown like this:

QB - 1
RB - 1
WR - 4
TE - 1
OL - 4
DL - 4
LB - 3
DB - 4

For a total of 22 (which is the amount of LOIs we have available). Obviously, that doesn't include early enrollees so you could potentially see a higher number at any of the defensive positions. I know we have to have some attrition to make this work and I'm definitely counting on that.

you say offense heavily favored but I see 11/11 and if you weigh each player I would go with Defense being heavier...

Because of our recent success we are going to see one of the best recruiting classes we have ever had.
