Post-Combine Draft Evaluation

Just wanted to get everyone's thoughts on who improved/dropped and where our players will go in the draft.

BYU's Ansah was a fast riser

Fisher might be the top pick now after a huge combine

Swearinger did well

Lattimore interviewed very well but medicals are very concerning per Chris Mortenson

I was expecting dj to run a 4.5 but after watching the combine with the db's the times are mostly all tainted.

The 4.67 hurt him anyway though.

I think Taylor performed better in his group than any other Gamecock - near the top. Swearinger, I think did well except for the 40 - seemed like an aberation. I'm guessing he will run again. TJ did OK - we know he isn't fast. Holloman didn't turn the 40 I expected, but was above the middle of his group and did well on the other drills. Ace was not impressive, but we know he can play. I looked at the QB group, and thought what a mistake T Boyd at Clemson may have made not coming out in this group.

I could see where Boyd or Murray, or both, could have been one of those 'hot' names in this draft and possibly ended up being a top 10/15 pick. Very weak QB class this year imo

Never understood the pro love for Moore, too much of a tweener IMO

And zero chance Fisher is the top pick... definitely a top 10/15 though.

Still think DJ is a 2nd round pick

Yeah Andrews said he was way ahead of schedule.

I never really thought that ML would or should play this year so Mort saying that taking him is an investment for 2014 is not really news.

Love the herd mentality with draft rankings.

Tons of people have Moore ranked in the top 5-10 overall when (IMO) on film he's clearly not a player of that caliber (not that he's a bad player or prospect of course). Takes a bad combine performance for people to actually realize it. I'm oversimplifying some, but Damontre Moore is a perfect example.

IMO Jarvis Jones is another example. Awesome player but not in the debate for top prospect or even top OLB prospect in the draft.

Don't think DJ's 40 hurts him too much, if at all. The ~4.67 more or less matches up with what you see on the field; he's clearly not a burner. And it's not far off from Vacarro's time who most consider the top safety. Hell, the difference could be chalked up to errors in timing and track technique - two factors with zero effect on their on-field play.

IMO, some team wants Lattimore bad enough to use Mort's influence to "sandbag" Latti's recovery.
