Let me first say that I am somewhat embarrassed to be starting this thread, but I couldn't take it anymore. There is one contestant that is singing in tonight's show that I cannot believe not only is there to begin with, but she is clearly going to be advancing to the voting part of the show. Her name is Zoanette. She seems like an incredibly nice person, and I'm sure she has a great heart, but I was shocked when she made it beyond the initial audition. I said to my wife, "Well, it's clear she's not going to make it." Well, she's still going. I'm convinced the judges are deaf, because this girl cannot sing. She sounds like a dying animal. What the heck are these people hearing?

Also, I only watch the show because I love my wife and she watches it. I personally only listen to classical music.

The fact that Nicki Minaj is a judge throws any credibility that show ever had out the window.

Thankfully I have two TVs. I have not watched a single second of American Idol this year. That trend will continue until the season is over.

The show was decent at one time. However, it's time for it to die. The whole singing/voice phenomenon is coming to an end.

I watched AI the previous two seasons only because Steven Tyler
was one of the judges and I wanted to see what he brought to the show.
I had never watched a single week of it until then, and haven't seen any
of the new show this year. The show actually has some talented people
who come to the auditions, but after they get the initial group and start
cutting it down, I saw the past two seasons that they are clearly not
looking for "Talent" more than they are a marketable "attitude" or
package. After they get to the final 10-12 it has nothing to do with
the artist / judges but basically a popularity contest for those who
text in votes. There was some really good singers that got voted off
the show the last two years and beaten out by "unique" personas.
I got really confused as to how that weird Asian kid made it as far as he
did last season before finally being voted off. Dude was as flat as a
Saltine Cracker and ZERO talent. Yet he continued to make it up until the
final 5-6 were left ?!?!?!?

After seeing the final round where the judges decide who moves on, I'm convinced they are gearing it so that a female will win this year. They've made it known it would be, "nice," if a girl were to win because a guy has won the last five times. And while a few of the guys they picked are pretty good, others are just dreadful. But if I'm being honest, there is one person who is beyond head-and-shoulders better than everyone else in the competition, and it happens to be a female (who happens to be from SC). If that girl doesn't win this year, America will be proving they have no clue what real musical talent is.
