Microsoft 'Durango' (aka XBOX 720) rumoured to be revealed this April

Figured I would start the unofficial official xbox thread since it is inevitable they will reveal it within the next 3 months.

not sure how much merit this has, because these stories change seemingly every day, but the discussion should still take place. Also, apparently some Australian "hacker" obtained some Microsoft info recently(including a prototype) and leaked it online. Along with that, the authorities raided his home because of it searching for said prototype .




Should be an interesting E3 this year, to say the least.

I'm not sure..

The direction I see them going is to offer more options with gold and offering more services included in the XBL payment and not requiring a separate membership to the service you are looking to use.


I think they will add something in order to woo the people on the fence

That would be good. Never saw the point for having to buy Silver just so you could pay to use Netflix.

It looks like Microsoft it trying to corner the market on the all-in-one home media experience with the next Xbox. I just want a good quality gaming system at a decent cost.

If the above is true, then that looks exactly what they're trying to do.

The only problem, they would have to be together with every dish/cable company in the world to be able to run the programs/channels through that box instead of one of the dish/cable companies box.

You'd need bonus space available for DVR'd shows etc. It would be awesome if they could make something like that, but I think it'd need to be a LOT more power to do that ... we won't talk about cost.

If this talk of focusing on being your all-in-one entertainment console is true, then the next gen of gaming will present a very interesting choice:

A) Microsoft's platform, focusing on covering all your bases; or
B) PS4 which just professed to be focused in on being all about games, particularly being friendly to developers to create the best games.

I see the appeal of both approaches. Personally, I'd rather buy the best game machine I can and let my other machines do their own jobs. Especially since most new TV's now are going to be smart TV's, so you'll get your streaming apps (like Netflix) directly through your TV now and won't need your game machine to get the job done. Just speculating and giving my 2 cents...

I agree with what you are saying and I too would be in favor of the PS4 just for the pure gaming experience, but the xbox controllers are so much more comfortable!!

The XBox looks intrigues me. I have been looking for a way to stop paying for cable and still get the 4 channels I actually watch on TV including live Gamecock football in the fall. The current Xbox does basically what I would like, but I have always figured I would wait for next gen since it is so close to being revealed.

This info makes me excited.
