The reason it took so long was that Featherston had a knee injury and SC was waiting on the results from his people.

Makes sense. Definitely a good prospect if he returns to pre injury form.

Featherston is a towering defensive prospect -- a human condor in football pads. He is an extremely long and lean kid. Although he needs to work to add some serious bulk to his frame, he is broad shouldered and should be able to pack on some of that needed mass with time in a college weight program. He may not have a thick, hulking build, but don't let his leanness fool you as he can be explosive coming off the ball.

Looking at his size, he looks basically the same as Devin Taylor when he was the same age, if I remember correctly.

Featherston, a Top247 prospect, is one of the most impressive defensive end prospects on video in the 2014 class. On video, it’s his combination of quickness, wingspan and closing ability that impresses – along with a unique frame. In person, it’s more of the same with a wingspan that measures 7’4” and the frame to carry more than 270-pounds in time at 6-foot-7.

With the frame and athleticism that the No. 3 weakside defensive end in the class nationally possesses, it comes without surprise that Featherston has quickly become one of the most highly sought defensive prospects in the class. With early offers from Clemson, North Carolina, N.C. State, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, South Carolina and Virginia among others, getting a workable list can be a tough task.
“I really don’t have a favorite. I haven’t, like, separated or differentiated anything,”

Featherston, who’s ranked by 247Sports as the No. 32 overall prospect in the 2014 class, said.

One program that has definitely grabbed the attention of Featherston after unofficially visiting hails from the ACC.

“I loved it — everything,” he said. “I don’t know what it was, but I just felt at home. (Clemson coach Dabo Swinney) said that I would be a big factor for the team, and it’d be more of a family.”

Along with Clemson, the 2014 Under Armour All-America selection has visited Tennessee, N.C. State and North Carolina over the last couple of months with a trip to South Carolina possible this weekend.
