I just don't get why anyone wants to play in South Beach with all the penalties staring them in the face.

2014 cornerback Chris Lammons of Plantation (Fla.) added an offer from South Carolina over the weekend. He's the No. 47 athlete in the 247Composite, but probably will play cornerback in college. He plans to visit UCF in March. This summer, he'd like to check out Florida, Florida State and Ohio State -- three schools he said have offered.

What offers stood out?

"Miami and Florida," Lammons said. "They're like family. They're backyard schools."

The 5-foot-10, 172-pound Lammons first burst onto the scene in February at the South Florida Express tryouts, and continued his fast ascent on Sunday. The high school quarterback with offers from Miami, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Ole Miss and others continues to prove that he may be the top cornerback prospect in the Sunshine State due to a physical mentality, very quick feet, explosive burst and the ability to turn and run in an attached manner.

New Alabama assistant coach Mario Cristobal didn't waste time recruiting the fertile ground of the tri-county of Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach County when he offered athlete Chris Lammons at cornerback. Lammons spent his junior year at quarterback, but he has speed, hips, and natural instincts to excel in the secondary. Florida and Miami will work hard to keep the athletic playmaker home come signing day.

Lammons was the most impressive defensive back in the deep and was the MVP of this position. He has very good cover skills and showed he was not only the top defensive back on Sunday but the top cornerback over the weekend if you combined both Nike events. Lammons was so impressive he was invited to the Opening this summer.
