UFC 157: Rousey vs Carmouche

Yes, fight fans, it is here! The day that Dana White had vowed would never arrive... Female MMA in the UFC officially kicks off on Saturday, 2/23/13. And as the headliner no less! That was the Baldfather's stance prior to meeting the fighting phenom Rhonda Rousey, USA's first medalist in the sport of Olympic Judo (2008 bronze medalist). She will be defending her Bantamweight Championship belt (135#'s) against a very good opponent in Liz Carmouche.

Dana's biggest problem with women's MMA is the lack of quality fighters to build depth in a division. I kind of agree, but think it's more a dearth of women that are in Rousey's class! This woman has ruined the arm of all 7 opponents she has faced professionally (including her toughest match vs Meisha Tate). ALL in the first round!! Wow.

Also on the card in the co-main event is Dan "Hendo" Henderson vs Lyota "the Dragon" Machida.

Very excited about the card on Saturday, but don't look for a long fight in the main event!

A lotta good fighters on this card. Koscheck vs Lawler will be a good one too and I like watching Faber and McGee fight. Kinda surprised that Rousey is headlining but Dana will milk her worse then he did Brock. And it's true, the problem is the lack of competition. It'll do more for the division if they have a long close fight then if Ronda destroys her in quick fashion.

Looks like Nah-Shon Burrell missed weight (175.8#'s) and this fight will be a catchweight, non welterweight match. Burrell will also forfeit a percentage of his purse for the f up.

Interesting that Faber needs to have a good showing tonight, or he might be on the chopping block from the UFC. Hope he wins, and looking for to hopefully seeing Machida win also.

Prelims should be in full swing by now on FX. I am not gonna get to post for a while as I gather my flock and ride to Buffalo Wild Wings for the main PPV card. Hope to see a fight or two before the main card kicks off, but my procrastinatin' brother may put a hitch in that giddyup!

Just arrived at the Colliseum..., uhhhhh.... BWW! I got to see Michael Cheisa win via RNC but not sure which round. Next up, Brendan Schaub vs Lavar Johnson in the heavyweight division.

Schaub is a heavy hitter but can't seem to take the heavy hits. He's been dropped a couple of times from some well placed hands, but has done the same to the likes of Mirko Crocop.

Schaub with the takedown early and a d'arce choke attempt! Back to side mount and on the feet. BS again on top in 1/2 guard. Both guys are tired and minimal action here. BS with the round.
