Buccaneers DE Da'Quan Bowers avoided a jail sentence on Thursday when his gun charge in New York were reduced from felonies and misdemeanors to a disorderly conduct violation. Bowers, who is expected to replace Michael Bennett as a starter at left end this season, was fined $370.

This was blown way out of proportion to begin with. He brought the gun from Charlotte originally if im not mistaken. It was registered to him and once he realized he had it he promptly notified the authorities.

Before 9/11 they probably would not have even filled out paper work on something like this and just told him to have someone come and pick up the gun or just leave it there.

If he brought it by mistake and when he finally realized he had brought it, he reported it to the police.. Then I think he did what was the right thing to do if you ask me.. Just because he played for Clemson doesn't mean he is a bad kid.. He isn't one of them arrogant asshole players who just ran his mouth non stop and was a thug.. He represented the State of South Carolina very well even though he wore that god awful color Orange.. haha I mean both USC & Clemson have had some punk thugs on our teams and Bowers never fit that description... How are we, as Carolina fans, gonna get mad when they call DJ a thug and we go ahead and call Bowers a thug as well.. DJ nor Bowers have ever shown to have those attributes in them.. They both have raw passion for the game of football and they show it in every aspect, but leave it out on the field.. Sometimes they may have gotten caught up in the moment, but that doesn't dub them to be thought of, as bad guys.. Just my opinion really, so take it how you feel fit
