Lexington sophomore QB Will Hunter (6-1 180) figures to be one of the state's top prospects in the 2014 class after passing for nearly 4000 yards, 35 touchdowns and only 6 picks last season. "He's a special kid," said Lexington coach Scott Earley. "He's the real deal." Earley said Hunter could grow to be 6-4. Hunter had shoulder surgery January 12th to repair damage his labrum he injured in the White Knoll game last season. USC surgeon Dr. Jeff Guy performed the procedure. "He will miss spring practice but he'll be full strength by mid-summer," Earley said. Hunter is not only dealing with his shoulder issue but also the likelihood that a chance for a scholarship offer from Clemson ended with the commitment of fellow sophomore QB DeShaun Watson to the Tigers earlier this month. "Everybody knew that's where his heart was," Earley said. "That was really what the kid was going to do. They have a lot of family ties (to Clemson). He's open now to all kind of things." Earley said USC, Duke, North Carolina and several other southeastern schools have shown early interest. Hunter was invited to USC's recent junior day but wasn't able to make it.

Junior QB Will Hunter (6-1 180) of Lexington is receiving interest from East Carolina, Virginia Tech, Duke, LSU and Alabama among others. Hunter said that he had received interest from Clemson and USC but has not heard from either school in some time. "I've been up to Clemson for some games but I don't think they're interested anymore to tell you the truth," he said. "I'm not sure where they stand with me. (USC assistant) G.A. Mangus has talked to me more than anyone but, since the season started, I have't really heard from him." Hunter plans to visit Clemson this weekend for the game. Alabama and LSU are two schools Hunter wants to see in the future. "I want to go to a camp at Alabama," he said. "I spoke with (Alabama assistant) Chris Rumph last summer. He was really nice. I want to get down to LSU too." Hunter does not have any favorites saying, "I just want to play."

QB Will Hunter of Lexington took his first visit Wednesday as he got a look at Charlotte. "I went up there for a spring practice and it was really nice," he said. "They took us on a tour and I got to see everything. I loved it." Hunter has yet to receive an offer but is garnering interest from Charlotte, East Carolina, Alabama and Appalachian State. "I think they are all waiting to come see me this spring," said Hunter. Each of these schools has told Hunter they would be by to evaluate him during his school's spring practices this May. Hunter does not have any other scheduled visits to date but does expect to attend several camps this summer. "I'll probably go to Alabama, Charlotte and East Carolina that I know of," he said. He does not have any favorites.
