One of those is wide receiver Corey Holmes, who recently posted impressive numbers at the Under Armour Combine in St. Petersburg.

“Last Friday, I got an offer from Maryland,” Holmes said. “A couple of days before that was Tennessee, and I spoke yesterday with a UCLA coach and he told me they were going to offer.”

The offer from the Volunteers came from both the wide receiver coach and head coach Butch Jones.

“I talked to (assistant coach) Zach Azzanni at Tennessee. I talked to the head coach too, and they said they really like me. They also said they want to get me up to campus,” he said.

Class of 2014 four-star receiver Corey Holmes ran a 4.48-second 40-yard dash, a 4.15 pro agility shuttle, a 6.72 L-cone shuttle and had a 35.5 inch vertical leap at the Under Armour All-American Combine on Jan. 5 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

“I have Florida, Florida State, Miami, USF, UCF, Tennessee, South Carolina, Michigan, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Houston, Rutgers, Maryland, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt; and maybe one or two more,” he said.

The 6-foot-0, 180-pound pass catcher with 4.48 speed is hoping to add more SEC and Pac-12 offers to the list.

“Definitely Alabama and Auburn. I would like to get a few more SEC schools, and USC out west,” he said.

Growing up, Holmes wasn’t locked into one college team. He closely watched four, if not more.

“A couple come to mind when I was a kid. Michigan was a team I used watch all the time. USC, LSU and Clemson too. There were a few I really liked," he said.

Holmes said he stays in touch with Notre Dame, Michigan, Tennessee and South Carolina the most, at this point.

Holmes is the long and slender wideout that has great hands, great body control, and he gets in and out of routes well too

Wide receiver Corey Holmes (Fort Lauderdale/St. Thomas Aquinas) took home the SPARQ awards following Friday’s testing in Orlando that included a 4.53 forty-yard dash and 38-inch vertical. Holmes, who will visit Notre Dame in April, flashed his athletic ability in one-on-one’s easily getting over the top of coverage.

Class of 2014 wide receiver Corey Holmes (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) put together another superb testing day at a combine. The 6-foot-2, 174-pound ran a 4.53 laser timed forty-yard dash into a slight breeze, followed it up with a 4.31 pro-agility shuttle and posted a 39-inch vertical. He plans to visit Notre Dame April 6 and may go to the Oklahoma spring game. The Sooners offered Tuesday. Holmes said again on Friday that he currently prefers to go out of state for college.
