Default NFL trainers wary about Lattimore.

I thought about not posting this because it isn't exactly positive. Still, I think we all knew the obstacles Marcus would have to over come and some NFL teams will have doubts.

http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescri...e/Default.aspx

Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier called running back Marcus Lattimore the most popular player in team history. It's probably because he never felt sorry for himself after suffering a torn left ACL in mid-2011 and then three torn ligaments and a dislocated right kneecap Oct. 27 last season.

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports one scout said, "I've had trainers tell me he's so far away. One told me he's not going to make it back ever. Others say he'll get back to a certain level. It's a tough repair and a tough rehab." Lattimore rushed for 1,197 yards as a true freshman in 2010. "He wasn't a real talent or anything", another scout said. "He's a 4.7. He was good because he's smart (Wonderlic of 18), understands the (game) and is a great kid. He would have found a way to make yards in the league." He finished with 2,677 yards (4.8) in 555 carries and 74 catches for 767 (10.4). "I think the world of the kid," a third scout said. "It will all come down to the doctors."

This is nothing but motivation for Marcus, he will be fine at the next level.

I've heard "experts" say Marcus is injury-prone, which is horse crap. What are you gonna do about someone plowing into your knee while another player hits you from the opposite direction? It's horrible but it's a fluke which could happen to anyone.

But, fluke or not, the damage to his knees was real and nobody knows how he will hold up over the long haul. It's possible for Marcus it may be a shorter haul, but whoever gets him is going to get a hell of a back for however long he is able to play. I'm sure someone will take a chance and will be rewarded for it.

Apparently they want to compare him to Barry Sanders. Every time he was on the field talent & heart combined to make one hell of a player.

Guys, as much as yall want to, don't get too worked up. This probably means the packers will draft him. They put out bad publicity like this to let guys slip to where they feel comfortable taking them. Same thing with tavon Austin's bad wonderlic, nobody really cares they just hope other gms think twice before taking him now. Trust me, the playoff teams were extatic when teo and Jarvis Jones had bad forty times. They know, they can play football, but now they have a chance at landing them.

Packers probably want latt to make it to the 2nd or 3rd round so they have some folks over in Milwaukee fed with crap info.

I hope that is the case anyways
just food for thought

You could be right about that, it would be ruthless but clever. Must be somebody named Snopes in the Packers' front office.

There is a reason why certain teams are always drafting at the end of the round and others are always near the beginning, because the ones at the end know how to look past the measurables and numbers and see the player. If success in the NFL was based purely on straight line speed than the Raiders would be a winning team right now.

After Marcus gets drafted, It would not surprise me if he did not see the field this season. I'd rather him get better and play longer rather than him get on the field early and possibly get injured. If he does see the field this season, well I hope he proves a lot of NFL scouts and trainers wrong.

Honestly, I don't care where he is drafted. He'll never need outside motivation. I just want him to go to a team that does not need him in 2013. That will give him another year to heal. Proving he can come back in 2013 is unimportant to me. Short term doesn't matter.

Not saying you are wrong, the idea is plausible. I just don't see a professional organization being swayed by such tactics. This close to the draft, most teams who plan on drafting a RB probably have their mind made up about Marcus.

The only no QB's that scored well above the average score of about 20 were guys from Harvard and 1 Boston College, so very well educated. Lattimore did fine. Either way it is by no means a precursor to success, Frank Gore got a 6, and Ryan Fitzpatrick got a 48, 2 points shy of perfection

18 is ok. It's nothing to brag about though. It's above average for RBs. You generally only get labeled a dumbass for a score of <10 or a genius >40(Ryan Fitzpatrick, Harvard. Score of 48). Anything inbetween means you can atleast learn a play book. That's my theory anyway.

Outside of Offensive Linemen and QBs. Wonderlic score isn't that significant.
