Who knows if the ACC is saved right now? Seems a little premature to say the least.

The ACC as a whole is "saved". The conference has been surviving on basketball for years, and this deal will not change that. The footbal schools- Clemson, FSU, and VT- will suffer.

There is no doubt that football is the major moneymaker in college sports. A conference can survive, a few can even thrive on basketball, but football is what pushes a conference over the edge.

The fact is that the football value is just not there in the ACC. No network is going to pay the big money they [the schools] need to keep up, just for those three schools. I'm not saying those schools are worthless, but they are not worth enough money by themselves to keep up.

No conference will want them if their money goes back to the ACC either. So those football schools will be stuck on the outside looking in. While everybody else continues to make more money off of football, building bigger and better facilities, gathering in better recruits, winning championships, the majority of the ACC schools will continue to happily march down basketball lane. Meanwhile, the football schools will be looking through the window, wondering what might have been had they left for the Big 12 or B1G when they had their chance.

From what I can see this deal pretty much holds the ACC football schools as prisoners. Their football will continue to drop and they won't be able to get out.
