Default Pork Rub

Tried a new(to me) rub on some thick chops last night.Brown sugar,dry mustard,kosher salt,black pepper,cayenne,and paprika.I coated them,and left them in the fridge for a few hours.Grilled them over charcoal.Not too shabby!

Adding brown sugar to pork rubs almost always works well.

If I'm not making my own rub, I really like Stubbs.

I usually use Plowboys Yardbird rub or Simply Marvelous Sweet Seduction

Also, this 3 pack ... I bought it cause it was Carolina, but these rubs are AWESOME. They're the same for whichever team you pull for, but they're great. I tried to steak one of the first time this past weekend and it's even good.

That's similar to the ingredients in my rub. I normally opt out of the black pepper on the rub since it has a tendency to burn sometimes. I make up for it by adding cracked peppercorns to the brine.

2-tbsp Kosher salt
2-tbsp white sugar
2-tbsp brown sugar
2-tbsp ground cumin
2-tbsp chili powder
2-tbsp black pepper
1/4-tsp cayenne pepper
1/4-cup paprika

mix all ingrediants together.rub butts down with light coat of mustard and apply rub.
Best butt rub ever.
