Ok. So basically, the power 4 are going to put a gun to the head of the NCAA and demand they be separated from the peasants.

I'm confused

The SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC and Pac-12 appear to be laying the groundwork toward forming their own division to be ruled for themselves by themselves.

Basically the Power 4 are pushing things forward and the ACC is tagging along.

It's been kind of clear for a while now that something like this was inevitable. I mean, do you really think that Toledo and Central Michigan have a chance to compete year-in and year out with people like Alabama and Oregon? The money is the issue, and I have no problem with creating a new division and changing the rules somewhat to reflect the reality of those schools.

What I DON'T want is for them to become more of a semi-pro league than a college division.

Do away with the FBS, FBC crap and just do this:

D1 (power 4 conferences)
D2 (all other FBS schools)
D3 what is now the FBC series
D4 smaller schools
D5 still smaller.

Why not?

I didn't include the ACC. It was intended. The other four are worth more to the NCAA, so they will be the major bargaining chips in this battle.

The NCAA is like the rebellious teenager that tries to boss around his parents. You don't bite the hand that feeds you. Apparently the NCAA didn't get that memo. The power four is where the money is at.

So the NCAA has two options. They can humble themselves and realize change is needed, or they can puff out their chest and take the gut punch that will follow.

They were not saying the Power 4. They were saying that it would be Division 4 (i.e. Division I, Division II, Division III).

the Penn State/Miami debacles were indeed the last straw. It totally baffles me how the NCAA could screw those up so bad. The Ncaa definitely has more power than they should. They also don't "judge" the schools fairly when it comes to violations.

The whole system is a mess and I just cant understand how smart individuals who are in the NCAA didn't realize the storm rising from those decisions.

I agree I still want college football not semi pro rules or changes. It just makes sense to take 64 teams, make 4-8 conferences and setup a playoff for conference winners. Can still use the bowls for playoffs and other major post season games. This would make all 12 games a lot more exciting; no more D1aa games thank God. I think 8 conferences of 8 teams and conference winners go into playoff against each other.
