Default Panama, the new Dubai?

Im amazed, I went to this country when I was younger to play soccer, now they are becoming something special, this is good for Central America

http://www.worldpropertychannel.com/...eblos-7178.php

The real estate market in Panama has reached a new level of luxury and exclusiveness. This small country with the ever growing skyline reminiscent of Miami now boasts Latin America's first man-made islands, the Ocean Reef development. Perhaps the description of Panama as the Dubai of the Americas is now more accurate.

Much like the announcement of the construction of the iconic Trump Ocean Club in 2006 raised the expectations of what Panama had to offer, Ocean Reef raises Panama development to the next level. I visited the site recently and met with the sales department, and the progress is impressive.

Dubai.. have you seen the Burj Khalifa in person? It's amazing. Who would have thought I would see a 200 story tower in my time. They are even planning on building something bigger, or so I heard. Also place is gorgeous at night.

Their police dept just ordered a fleet of Bugati Veyrons to go with their existing Aston Martins, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Camaros, and Mustangs.

One of my best friends lives in UAE not too far from Dubai. The money flows like water over there. It is unreal. Panama will NEVER be DUbai or the next Dubai or anything of that nature...unless fossil fuels dry up in the next 5 years

It's not fossil fuels fueling that economy, it's low to zero tax rates. Granted, fossil fuels may help allow for that. But, businesses and the ultra-wealthy are flocking there because of tax rates.

Basically, it's the opposite of California or Michigan.

Wonderful place though. The issue Panama has that Dubai has overcome is property rights and govt stability. Anywhere could be the next Dubai with these things in place coupled with real tax rates that are attractive.

There aren't slaves in Dubai, just poorly paid migrant workers. Sounds familiar. Took a while for the US to give rights to women as well, yet I would also call this a wonderful place.

I wouldnt be surprised, remember, the western world had a scientific revolution, they didnt so they dont know any better...

Women are seen as property in most parts of the world, that is normal to them, they truly dont see anything wrong with it, they have had the same culture for centuries.

You should see the movie "The White Mazzai" and you wont be amazed about certain things.

People were leaving Dubai in droves last I heard. Granted I haven't checked up on it for a few years, but their housing market burst something fierce. Must have had a big turnaround.

Dude, nothing in this world amazes me. Read more Orwell.

The Arab world went through a scientific revolution long before the Western world. They were calculating the circumference of the Earth while Europe burned their libraries. Unfortunately their present culture is living proof that gains can be lost.

they invented algebra and what we now know as a guitar...

They are a different culture, for the most part we were changed and molded by the Roman Empire.

Arabs do a lot of different things. Countries like Dubai and Lebanon seem to be a little different then the rest, Im not sure about Syria. I used to have a lot of dudes from Iran in my classes in Los Angeles, some of them look "white." interesting people.

Dude...Iranians are white. They're not Arabs they're Caucasian.

I'm not trying to be mean when I say this... but do you get out much? You often post as though you know a great deal about other cultures, but don't really back it up.

It's alright though, at least you care to learn. That's more than most people can say.

The Phonecians were way ahead of their times. We have an alphabet thanks to them. Their zeal for sea navigation and trade routes really helped with their discovery of new knowledge
