Gut feeling.... I think it's a fairly tight game early (1st quarter) with both
defenses playing tough, but I think we'll eventually pull away from UGA
late second quarter and have the game well under control by the end of
the game. ... I think Shaw will play with a lot of "Senior" confidence and
run the gameplan well. Again, just a strong gut feeling, I think Clowney
will have one of the best games of his career here at USC Saturday
afternoon, and that he'll play with a chip on his shoulder and want to
prove a lot of "experts" wrong from last week. .... I think they (UGA)
will put a couple / three people on him to start the game, but that is
going to be costly for them as it will allow the other big guns on defense
(Quarles, Sutton, English etc..) to have big games early.

If I was forced into making a prediction, I'd say something like 38-13
final (Good Guys On Top) ... .The only wrench in the gears that could
cause us to lose would be if we had several Turnovers.

I hope you're right but there's no way we win by 25 points.

This will be a close game. UGA is faced with a must win and a college team is always dangerous with that motivation. It will come down to a few key plays and a turnover or 2.

Our run D was less than impressive against a lackluster unc and we face a huge task in stopping the best RB in the nation. And they get Harvey clemmons back on D.

Man, 38-13. I would love to see it as it would silence the Tigers and take some of the wind out of their sails. However, I'm not too sure we hold them to 13 although I think we're better than Georgia. I'm looking for a TD win by the Gamecocks with Georgia still in it late. You can say what you want about Georgia playing with their backs to the wall and all that but the problems they have on the Offensive Line don't get fixed by playing at home and in desperation mode.

I hope you're right. I feel like if we play well that we should win by a couple of scores, regardless of how well UGA plays. Their o-line is a mess and their d-line is soft as hell.

Everybody thought that last year too. "Ohh it's going to be a tough game! No way we beat UGA 3 in a row"

The run D will be improved because UGA doesn't run a hurry up offense. Also the hot weather played a huge factor last week too. NTM, our guys have had more time to prepare for UGA.

38-24 Good Guys ... there's no way Georgia drops as many key passes as in their last game but our defense will stand tall when it counts.

But our home field got in Aaron's head last year and that shouldn't happen Saturday. I think we win by 7-10. I also think we worry more about the run but TJ will get his yards regardless.

I have to be honest Spurt, before the Georgia/Clemson game I was a bit worried but after watching that game I'm feeling as confident as you are. I don't see them scoring more than on TD and a few FG's against our defense. I think there defense will give up over 200 yards on the ground between Davis, Wilds, and Shaw. I also see more than one long TD pass when they stack the line because they can't stop the run. This game will be well in hand by midway through the third quarter.

if we turn the ball over and give UGA a short field (like UF last year), this game could go the other way very easily. I am quietly optimistic...but games at UGA always seem to turn into barnburners

Games always come down to many factors. For me, it is usually the turnover margin. 9 times out of 10, I look at the main key as being the turnovers. For example, if you have a game like we did at Florida last year then everything else goes out the window. If you have three turnovers or more in a game then you can forget all of the other stats.

But in this game, barring a complete collapse like against Florida, I really believe it is going to come down to who has the better day rushing the football.

Mark Richt is not going to try and put this game in Murray's hands. He has what most think is the best RB in the country and he is going to ride him all game long. On the other hand, Coach Spurrier is always going to rely heavily on the run. There is zero chance that we come out and throw the ball 40 times.

I would be shocked if the team that has more rushing yards loses this game.

You can say that about Vandy or any other team on the schedule. Our offense outplayed Florida but after spotting them 28 points we didn't stand a chance.

I just feel like this one is not going to be close in the long run. I saw
NOTHING from UGA last week that made me think they have as good or
a better team as they had last year. In Fact, I'm betting this is an 8 win
UGA team at best this year. I think both teams will "feel each other
out early" but in the long run, I think our D/line will start to dominate
UGAs O/Line. You could see it in Murray's eyes last year, and for a
stretch last week. If you get to him, you can rattle his cage, and IF
I'm right and JD turns up the heat, we can control this game going away.
I think our D/line is that deep and that strong even without JD lighting
it up. ..... Seriously, I think if Carolina gets on a roll early enough, it
may even be worse than 38-13(ish).

I really wish there was a way to explain to you the effect all those quick screens had on our defensive line and linebackers, but in order to really GET IT, you have to think like a player/coach. When the QB turns and throws the ball out beyond the has 8/10 plays and they have to turn and RUN, they start to lean. When defenders start to lean and get a head start....then they hit you up the middle with some runs. ALSO. We played a lot of man coverage against UNC, b/c we are athletic enough to match up with them outside and allow our guys in the middle to run to the ball. But, they hurts when they run, b/c the secondary run support is lacking because of man responsibility. We gave up a few runs, but we didn't give up a homerun, and we held their O well under their avg from last year. Our D will be just fine against the jawja running game.

If Georgia can put up 550 yards on Clemson at Clemson with all of the bumbling by the players and coaching, they may be able to play reasonably well at home. Just looking at these 2 squads on a neutral site or at Williams Brice, I say gamecocks roll big time. At UGA, I think it's a lot closer. I expect their young defense to play a lot better at home.

Default Re: Spurt - CoverTwo

generally whatever team's backs make the bigger impact on the game will win this game, its been that way since spurrier got here. in athens the margin of victory has been no greater than 4 since 2005. but if their defense is as terrible as it was last week and we contain their running game it very well could be a comfortable win like last year.

Maybe not 40, but I bet between 25 and 30.

Georgia's secondary is full of youth. That isn't a good matchup against a Steve Spurrier offense that has veteran playmakers all around. Georgia can't stack the box with 8 guys. Not when USC has matchup advantages with Roland/Ellington/Jones/Byrd/Anderson/Adams on the perimeter. In fact, if UGA does sell out on the run game, its going to be over early.

I'll post my complete thoughts later today.
