Default Burger seasoning

About to grill some burgers this afternoon and was wondering if anyone could recommend a good burger seasoning? Want to try something instead of just pepper.

Mix the meat with your favorite bbq sauce... then form the burgers.

I use bloody mary mix in the burgers, mix of salt, pepper, garlic, celery seed and lemon zest on the outside.

I'm with you. I prefer to just add a little A1 in the meat, patty them up, cook to the desired temp and serve. If someone else wants salt, pepper, garlic or whatever, they can season them then.

I make my own rubs. One thing that I have been doing recently is making a chili powder (but you can use a premade brand). Put a healthy dose ofthe chili powder on the burger. Grill it, melt some cheddar then serve with slaw, onions, mustard, and pickles.

You get that chili cheeseburger taste but it is not as messy since yu are using the powder and not actual chili.

Mine probably wont work for this afternoon, but when you have some time... Garlic, Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice, Oregano, and a touch of Olive Oil. Mix in with the meat, let it sit over night, hand patty.

Many times I will actually do ground lamb with this if I can make it to the International Market. This makes fantastic Greek Style burger that will knock your socks off. I also use tzateki sauce as my only condiment on this burger. A little Onion and Tomato on a deli style bun. You've got yourself a winner.

This is a recipe I made myself as a knock off to the homemade Souvlaki sandwiches I make.

This sounds great. Do you add LTO (lettuce, tomato, onion) when you eat it?

I used to make all of my rubs and seasonings from scratch. I still make some. In fact this week I made some beef and poultry rubs. However most of the time I agree with Johnny Trigg. There are just too many people making excellent seasonings for far less money than I can. He buys his. I do too sometimes. The Montreal is a good suggestion. Weber makes a good burger seasoning. McCormick makes a nice Worcestershire pub burger seasoning.

If you do want to make your own I suggest that you start by making up a batch of Emeril's Essence. He is cool enough to not care about it being proprietary. He publishes the recipe online: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/e...ipe/index.html. Now you have a good quality base. You can customize that in various ways for whatever particular food you are cooking!

Try adding and egg yolk and half a cup of instant oatmeal. To season, salt pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, little soy sauce, and a little honey. bam.

I love to mix up a packet of Lipton's Onion soup mix with a little bit of Worcestershire sauce into 2lbs of hamburger meat.

Well I ended up using the Montreal steak seasoning. They turned out to be delicious! Put some sautéed onions on, cover them with a jalapeño white cheddar cheese. Then topped it off with siracha.
