Default Coaching on the D.

I'm no expert, but it looks like we have talent on defense, but they still look lost at some plays. HBC was upset at one time and let it be known, by getting in a D's coach's face. Something got to change or it's going to be a long season.

I definitely think the Adams experiment is a failure. I never thought one position coach could mean so much, but it sure looks that way.

Said this in the other thread but - Clowney dropped into coverage twice all game and neither were bad decisions.

First time was on the 1st play of the game. Defense stopped Vandy for a short gain. The second was the 3rd and long in the second half. On that play Clowney actually took away the TE on a slant. The problem was that the left CB was playing 10+ yards off the right wide receiver, so Vandy picked up the first down easily on a short hitch. Vanderbilt picks that 1st down up regardless of whether Clowney is rushing or not with how much of a cushion the DB gave.

Our defense is doing fine for their age. We have young LB's, and Spur's and that's creating a lot of the negatives. It will be corrected with experience. Tonight our defense played really well. If the turnovers didn't happen, Vandy wouldn't have scored any TD's.

Nice recruiting huh? Well guess what...after tonight. We'll be lucky to get two star recruits. Terrible showing by fans! Bad coaching! How is Adams gonna explain to the recruits why he got cussed out by his boss?

From Twitter

@ericg560: Man, Deke Adams has everyone around here on his case...Clowney, Botkin and now Spurrier. Where is the line forming?

Heck, we got one of the best recruits of all time, and the D still looked pretty flat. Stars don't mean a thing if you don't coach em up and you don't groom guys to step up into that leadership role when others graduate/leave early.

Deke Adams is the biggest failure in coaching since Turner Gill was hired at Kansas. I've never seen Spurrier bless out a coach like that on the sideline before.

The LBs and secondary are young, and we knew they would be. But they're playing as well as can be expected given their experience. I thought the D played well at first, but they showed their age when the special teams turned into a disaster and turned the game into Derpfest 2013. They simply didn't have the resiliency to shut off Vandy.

If the D is this bad in November, Whammy has to feel some pressure. I'm not positive Adams survives the season.

No, I'm his brother, Morenzo.

Still though, my points are valid. The defense wasn't the problem tonight at all, it was Special Team or Dylan's turnovers. Take away those short fields, and Vandy wasn't getting any paint.

Watch our defense do something as simple as tackle a RB and u will admit we have real issues. We are not physical. We arm tackle. We let teams run over us. Do they know more than one person can tackle a guy??? Tenn and UF are going to pound us for 4 qtrs

That's true, but our DL is getting schemed out by the overly aggressive style of Deke, they jump out of containment, and as a result get ran around allowing OL to get on our young LBs who should be enjoying the priviledge of running free to stop running plays with the most physically gifted DL in the nation, which is rivaled only by Stanford.

I like your thoughts...I'll give you that.
But the problem is WAY deeper than a turnover here or there.

p.s. will you short sheet Whammy's bed tonight for me....please.
