Default Tennessee QB out at least a month

http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoot...urgery-on-hand

Nate Peterman who started against Florida will be out for at least a month after having surgery on his hand. Worley was the starter before last week and played in the 2nd half vs UF.

I know this isn't big news but it seems to have solved their QB controversy, and solidified that we will see Worley when we play them on 10/19.

Worley needs to take advantage of this reprieve and just play. He can drop darts if he has time. Mobile he is not and he has receivers that are unproven. I wish nothing but the best for this SC kid. Will he meet the challenge? Against us I would hope not...

Then you missed a few quarters of the worst QB play ever witnessed. If the Peterman from Seinfeld had started, he probably would have been better.

I trust that he will not have that time against us.

Worley is a better QB than Peterman.

That game gave me hope that Butch Jones is a freakin bust as a coach. his idea?

Let's start a Freshman QB from Jacksonville in the Swamp as his first game.

Epic Fail. Might have ruined the QB too.

If UT's season takes a turn for the worst, I dont see how they can not end up playing one of their true freshmen studs eventually. Ferguson or Dobbs.

Things like that happen when you have a broken hand. Agreed that he had a terrible game but they suspect that he injured his hand some time before that play. When I first saw it, it sure look like he threw a dead duck into the air. It was only later that I found out about his broken hand.

According to talk radio here in East TN, they are doing everything they can to avoid pulling their redshirts...especially Dobbs b/c of his huge upside and potential. I think that as long as they don't have injury problems, Worley may be it for a while.

As an aside, the kid who returned the Driskel INT for a TD was from my high school and is a walkon...shows that either UT has Schollies spread thin to many places or that Dooley gave kids scholarships who can not play when a true freshman walkon is getting meaningful PT.

From Tennessee's Rivals site on the QB situation.

Quote:
Justin Worley will start and took all first-team reps this week. So what's going on behind Worley? While the distribution of reps has been somewhat even behind Worley, Riley Ferguson appears on every level to be the Vols' second-team quarterback. Ferguson has been the Vols' first choice this week behind Worley. Make no mistake: coaches believe both Joshua Dobbs and Ferguson can help the program in the future, but Ferguson's closer to ready right now and should be the first QB in behind Worley in any sort of standard situation against South Alabama. Ferguson has continued to impress with his quick release, strong arm and ample confidence/moxie/self-belief/swagger/whatever you want to call it. He believes he's going to excel in any given situation, and coaches admit that rubs off on teammates. Dobbs got plenty of reps this week as well, but coaches said before the season the ideal scenario was to redshirt one of the two true freshmen and Dobbs remains the most likely candidate in that scenario, though admittedly plans change during the course of a season.
Ferguson is supposed to be really coming along well, I think you see him some this weekend and could very likely start the South Carolina game after he has the bye week to get a lot more reps in if we don't somehow upset UGA with Worely.

Swafford was the second DB freshman on our team to get a pick six this year, Malik Foreman was the other! (My HS as well back in the day).

We have 4 walk-ons who are contributing major minutes in the secondary which is why you are seeing such a struggle there still. (Swafford, Arnold, Williams and Toney.) TN has had bad luck in the secondary when it came to Dooley recruits, Gordon, Gray, Bonner and a few others have all left the team in the past year.
