Default Mike Davis

Is a beast. He should have got more carries. He's a friggin bruiser.

He abused anyone (except for McCullers... #98) that tried to tackle him. Future is bright for that kid.

But that would have made too much sense for our coaching staff.

If you want to see someone abused, find a video of Jack Nicklaus' grandson running over the tater in the game last night.

Serious question about this kind of stuff: Isn't the hit O'Leary put on that CU player the same thing as targeting when a defender does it? He lead with his head and made contact above the shoulders, so that seems like the definition of targeting.

Yep! I'm so glad we have him. I just wish Wilds hadn't gotten hurt so Davis would have a legitimate back up right now who is an actual threat.

Looks to me like he put his shoulder and forearm into the defenders chest.

A DB squaring up to tackle isn't "defenseless" by rule probably. If it was just helmet contacting helmet they would throw out every offensive and defensive lineman.

I will never understand why we chose to throw a bunch of incomplete passes at the end of the game when Davis gets around 6 yards per carry on average?

The move he put on Brian Randolph on the 20 yard TD run was as good if not better than the move Hardesty had on SC in the 09 game. My jaw was on the ground.

Yeah a qb completing 30%, wr's dropping balls, then starting qb gets hurt, a rb leading the SEC and already over 100 yards for the day, a Wildcat qb that is averaging 9 yards a carry, a 4 pt and 1 pt lead, a punter that can't kick it 30 yards,,etc.
Why would you consider running the ball???

I'm not sure I've ever been more frustrated with the play calling in the 4th quarter. I am as big of a SOS supporter as there is and I know we would not be where we are today without him; however, as stated before, where the hell was the I formation in the 4th quarter? Ran it sparingly in the first half but the first sighting of the I went for 45 yards. Give Davis a lead blocker out of the backfield and watch. To hell with this read option in the 4th quarter with a lead in a close game. And all the pass plays when they had not worked all day? Sorry. Venting. Props to Davis because he is one heck of a ball player. Should have been celebrating yesterday with Davis as the player of the game but.........

This is what I been saying to if you give davis a lead blocker he's not gone be stopped when you rb averages almost 7 yards a carry why not feed him the rock especially in the 4th quarter when you are tryin to win a game that you have the lead

Lattimore blew his knee out twice, could be why...just saying, it has to be in the back of your mind with a kid who has millions on the line and we have several other weapons who have played well this season

Why would you consider running the ball???
We ran the ball 41 times and passed it 21 times, if you were to take Davis's 2 top runs out of the equation he was averaging 3.3yds per carry. Not taking anything away from Davis, I think he is the best RB in the country but SOS called a good play to get Davis in the open field twice and they made a good defensive read and then a tough one on one tackle since they were loading the box knowing we were going to run the ball. We then handed the ball off to Davis for 2yds and 0yds to set up 3rd and 6, not sure if that was a designed QB run from Thompson, if so I did not like that play call but it put the defense in position to win the game. SOS tried to put the ball in Mike Davis's hand 4 of the last 6 plays, we did not execute and that was the theme of the game. If you watch it the coach gave them some great chances to make plays and we were a shoe string tackle here, a missed field goal, a dropped pass, a ball caught on the helmet there from winning, it is a game of inches.

There really is no excuse for it. I'm over the loss, now. But that doesn't mean Tenn was the better team. We screwed up in the fourth by not riding Davis in the end and it's completely mind-boggling.

Why do a get a feeling our coaches don't learn from their own mistakes?

Didn't SOS say two weeks ago that he was just going to go for it on 4th and two for now on? We were going to lose no matter how many time outs we had by punting and I bet 95% of us knew that. Just snap the ball and give it to your best back behind your best blockers.

We literally pissed this game away, time to pull up the boot straps and get back to work.
