Default Did the loss to TN make spurrier realize...

That we absolutely need to be a run team first? I thought after the first half against UCF maybe he realized that MD28 needs way more touches but seemed to forget again in the 2nd half against Tenn. Yes MD28 was stuffed multiple times Saturday for no gain but you have to take some of that due to his home run threat. He is way to valuable to our team. I hope Saturday spurrier will line up in the I and get mike some runs on the outside, mix it up please. Every run play out of the shotgun gets old and defenses really key in on it. Go Cocks Beat Mizzou!

USC ran it more than they threw against Tennessee.

Want to know why USC lost the game?

Turnovers (USC had 2, UT had none) and field position (most drives in the first half started inside the USC 20 yard line) combined with poor execution (drops, miss blocks, and QB taking off too soon).

Spurrier knows he has a horse back there. He reads the stat sheets after the game. But he needs to call the game the way he sees fit. He even said after the game that he should've called more pass plays and I agree. He tried to hang on for dear life at the very end instead of being aggressive like he has for almost the entire season.

Yep, what was it? Close to 75% of the time we started with ball on our 20 yard line or less? Our field position was garbage, and our punting didn't help any. They always had the ball on their own 45 or the 50. You can't win games like that.

Not true at all. We were very close to winning that ball game. I'm not
Saying mike could of won it for us but I think we would of had a lot better shot running him in the 4th.

We did run him, the problem was field position. Remember we were inside our own 30 when we got stopped, again.

Didn't mike touch it 4 times in the 2nd half?

Yeh, and we barely had the ball all game. Just saying, we scored late, thought the victory was secured, then here came that bad field position again.

we didnt get but 17 first downs. Ball control - MikeDavis !!

although what you described sounds like the way Hershal was (no gain for five carries, then bust one for fifty), MikeDavis hits the hole and carries 'em for 8 or 12 a lot too, which moves the chains all game.

Drives after Davis' touchdown:

1) Drive started at USC 45 .. Davis rush 6 yards, loss of 3 yards on fumble, Shaw rush 7 yards (1st down), then 2 incompletions and a sack to finish drive.

2) Drive started at USC 11 .. Davis 3 yards, Shaw 2 yards, Shaw 1 yard.

3) Drive started at USC 12 .. Incompletion, sack, 5 yard pass

4) Drive started at USC 18 .. Davis 2 yards, Davis 0 yards, Thompson 6 yards

It appears like USC called more run plays (9) than pass (6) in the 4th Q, and had AWFUL field position.

We really had a chance to flip field position on drive 1 but the drive stalled out and then Kelcy Quarles helped them out with a hoarsecollar on the following UT possession on 3rd & 11. Which then lead to Worley to North for 48 yards. That really changed the game right there.

No, not correct. Just because DJ tweeted it doesn't make it correct. He had 10 rushing attempts in the second half. This isn't counting the multiple swing passes that were threw to him.

Mike Davis had his hands on the ball PLENTY in the second half. Either through rushing it or having swing passes thrown to him.

We rushed it 42 times and passed it 22. I am not sure how anyone can say that we need to rush it more.

In our very last drive, Mike Davis was given the ball for the first two downs and got two yards total. That was on our last drive. So how can you say that we went away from the run?

Mike got stuffed on a bunch of the shotgun run plays. At least with a lead blocker like Connor(fb) he could get some yards every down like he did against UCF.

We lined up in the I-formation on the second play of the last possession we had and still got stuffed. They were stacking the box because we were not completing or even throwing any passes at that point hardly. I agree we should have lined up more in the I in the 4th quarter though.

Spurrier needs to get over himself. We had the ball, up 4, on the UT 40 yard line early in the 4th quarter. And we throw 3 straight incompletions. That is what lost us the game.

You're also assuming that all of those QB runs were designed runs. I'd have to go back to the tape, but I can remember at least two of those being scrambles in designed drop-backs.

Here's my thought process. If Tennessee absolutely needs a stop and were in bad field position I doubt they would get to crazy on D and allow a big play like the Byrd touchdown. What was it 2 drives late in the 4th that spurrier refused to run the ball? Bad field position or not we needed first downs and to burn the clock.

That and the pussy play calling on our last series, one first down wins the game. Didn't even allow Dylan to throw on 3rd to try and seal the deal.

Bad passes and drops are why we lost the game. Pretty one dimensional most of the game.

Guess this is what seperates the good teams from the great teams. If Usc was a great team it wouldn't of mattered what UT did they would of gotten those first downs. Momentum swing, and USC just get's smacked in the jaw. Reminds me of the last drive for LSU 2012/AU 2011. It's like come on D, and nothing in the world is going to stop them from getting points. Momentum it's a hell of a thing to try and stop.

If Dave Williams plays against UT do we win?

Spurrier obviously has a lack of confidence in Carson with Wilds out. And Jamari didn't play. Can't help but think a fresh set of legs in the 4th would of boosted out running game. Maybe, maybe not but it's worth a thought.

We need Wilds back
