Default Offensive Line Splits

Is anybody else watching the Wake Forest-Miami game today?

Wake Forest is playing with four to five yard splits in between each of their offensive lineman. It seems to really effect the opposing teams pass rushing ability.

I feel like this would be very effective with Connor shaw and our spread option. Thoughts?

That's right out of Mike Leach's (formerly at Texas Tech, now at Washington State) playbook.

It works great if you are going to throw the ball about 85% to 90% of the time and you build the offense for that, with a guy who can throw 50+ passes a game.

It's designed for undersized offensive lines.

Really hard to recruit decent running backs in that offense because they never run the ball.

Off topic but I feel sorry for Miamis players. They are a Top 10 team (undeserved, but still) and their stadium is half full

do any of you agree one of our primary strenths on O is versatility? personnel have alowed us to employ read option base with doses of wildcat, 2 back heavy set, option and verticle deep game off play action ( should be greater element with DT at QB).

doing it full time is unlikely to be beneficial long term even if we could but...do you think (especially w/ DT at QB) we have the personnel to use components of such a set situationally based on matchups?

Clowney would have a field day against those splits. Do you know how often he would cut inside on that formation and get a sack? lol

I don't think it was half full. Must have been a third.
