Default The best 3rd down backs

In the SEC. As reported by Matt Wyatt, the color analyst for MSU.

We have both!

Great stat, thanks! We have to have some pretty good 4th down players as well, if we don't I can't imagine a better or more crucial 4th down play then Shaw to Ellington, GO COCKS!

Have to agree, the % is probably the best way to determine who is the best in this stat. The 3 players with a 70+% are on teams that are undefeated, or with one loss. I also think USC would be in that group if Davis, and Shaw we're at 70% or better.

Not sure exactly how the "No." category is calculated, but it is used as the numerator in this. For example if 1st downs and touchdowns are added up, Mike should have a numerator of 16 successes on 22 attempts, giving him a success rate of 72.7%. Seems off, but again, I don't have this guys methodology to review.

Anyway, I think the thing to note is how much more often we are going to 3rd down situations than other teams. We have got to become a better team on 1st and 2nd down.

On the sheet it shows 14-22 which is 63% Meh I see what you mean now, where is he getting his numbers. It should be 3 td 11 first 14 attempt.

Yes, I can read. What I said was that I did not understand where the 14 comes from. Look at the chart and see if you can determine where it is generated.

Gotcha :), I edited my post after I noticed that. He only got 5 correct, maybe he's a BAMA homer, and didn't want to show that Josey got 85%, and Mason got 80%. :D

Emery

Yeah I agree. See BAMA it shows they are either a getting the first down by the 1st, or 2nd down, or they are passing to get theirs.

Assuming the numbers are right, my guess is that some of those carries resulted in a first down AND a TD. The 14 is not 16 in order to not double count those carries.
