Default Seating Question

I'm wanting to take my Dad to his 1st game in 30 years. He has had 2 knee operations and one replacement.
Currently we have tickets in section 503. I am not too keen on him walking the ramps and the stairs to get to our section. Do the elevators in the stadium go to specific sections in the mid tier or I am setting him up a world of pain and exercise?

thanks.

I know they go to the 400 level below you. You might want to call the Gamecock Club and see what they have to say. Normally the elevators are for GC club members.

Your right, but I am sure they would be able to accommodate him without much resistance.

As I read it, according to the Americans with Disabilities Act, They must provide access or be in violation of Federal Law.

----------------------------------------------
36.301 Eligibility criteria.

(a) General. A public accommodation shall not impose or apply eligibility criteria that screen out or tend to screen out an individual with a disability or any class of individuals with disabilities from fully and equally enjoying any goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations, unless such criteria can be shown to be necessary for the provision of the goods, services, facilities, privileges, advantages, or accommodations being offered.

A disablilty is defined as follows:

Disability means, with respect to an individual, a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of such individual; a record of such an impairment; or being regarded as having such an impairment.
(1) The phrase physical or mental impairment means
(i) Any physiological disorder or condition, cosmetic disfigurement, or anatomical loss affecting one or more of the following body systems: neurological; musculoskeletal; special sense organs; respiratory, including speech organs; cardiovascular; reproductive; digestive; genitourinary; hemic and lymphatic; skin; and endocrine;
(ii) Any mental or psychological disorder such as mental retardation, organic brain syndrome, emotional or mental illness, and specific learning disabilities;
(iii) The phrase physical or mental impairment includes, but is not limited to, such contagious and noncontagious diseases and conditions as orthopedic, visual, speech, and hearing impairments, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, cancer, heart disease, diabetes, mental retardation, emotional illness, specific learning disabilities, HIV disease (whether symptomatic or asymptomatic), tuberculosis, drug addiction, and alcoholism;
(iv) The phrase physical or mental impairment does not include homosexuality or bisexuality.

So, as a diabetic with heart disease, I have the right - by law - to ride the elevator whether I'm a GC member or not. He shouldn't have a problem either.

If you are using the elevator...GO IN EARLY!!!! The lines are terrible. My mom had elevator access due to disability and would have to leave the tailgate about an hour and a half before kick to be able to get on the elevator.

You won't have any trouble getting on the elevators. They are generally for GCC members and buffet ticket holders, however, they always allow people with a physical problem to ride. You will be able to ride with him.
have fun,
doc

I believe you must have a handicap card to use the elevator and then you can go to the front of the line. Call the Gamecock Club for information.
