Default Football on Thanksgiving Day

NFL Games
12:30 Packers @ Detroit
4:30 Raiders @ Dallas
8:30 Steelers @ Baltimore
-------------------------------
NCAA Games
7:30 Ole Miss @ Miss State
7:30 Texas Tech @ Texas

I don't understand why they have both college games at the same time.
Also, isn't this the first year Ole Miss and State have played on Thanksgiving Day? They didn't last year. TBH, neither one of those games are appealing on a national scale.

I wish we would move our rivalry game to Thanksgiving Day every year. The game is always played on the Thanksgiving weekend, it would just be moved two days forward. Everyone would be off work and it would be watched by millions across the country, increasing exposure to the rivalry. this year would have been a great yera to play on Thanksgiving with both teams most likely ranked in the top 10 and being the highest ranked match up of the rivalry since 1987:

On November 21, 1987, with the highest combined rankings of the two football programs entering the game (the Gamecocks were #12 and the Tigers were #8), South Carolina beat Clemson 20-7 on national television (ESPN). The Gamecock defense held the Tigers to 166 total yards, the lowest amount of coach Danny Ford's career at Clemson.

2012 we were 12th and they were 11th.

On November 23, 1963, the Tigers and Gamecocks were set to play the annual rivalry on live national TV. However, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy the day before would affect the scheduling of the game. Both schools planned to proceed with the original day and time, but federal government pressure caused the schools to push the game to November 28, marking the only time Clemson and South Carolina played on Thanksgiving Day.

Would you like to see the game moved to Thanksgiving Day?

The problem you don't see more is because Thanksgiving has been the NFL's day for quite some time now.

They'd be competing with those games and the NFL would win.(those games are on Network Television which always draws more views)

Yeah, but they do have two games now at 7:30 which will take away viewership to the 8:30 NFL game.

They should have one NCAA day game on at 3:30.

I think everyone outside of that cesspool of a city, Detroit is sick of watching them on turkey day anyway. That game is good for a nap and that's about it.

Eh. You gotta take into account some of the larger markets though.
Northeastern cities which have higher populations tend to watch NFL over College.

Also that Steelers-Ravens game is on NBC this thanksgiving, that game will easily get more views than the two college games.

Heck no to moving our game to Thanksgiving Day. Unless you want to see a 1/4 full student section.

That's a good point. I'm going to see what the student sections look like for the two games scheduled this year.

To add to that I agree with not having the game on Thanksgiving as well.
A good amount of our students/fans/alum aren't from the Columbia area (myself included)
