Default Hungergames-Catching Fire

Just saw it here in Korea because it came out a few days before the US. I read the books like 6 years ago and actually enjoyed them. The first movie was enjoyable but this was much better, just like the second book was the best. I think the movie is for anyone and I consider myself a bit of a movie snob (i.e. indie films and all that).

However, much of the hunger games enjoyment has been ruined ever since I found out about Battle Royale, the Japanese book and movie that the author clearly stole her idea from. Now talk about an incredible and awesome book and movie. However, I digress.

This movie is good and Id much rather girls enjoy this series than that stupid Twilight crap.

4 out of 5 stars.

Looking forward to seeing this one myself. Didn't care about seeing the first one, but the wife wanted to see it so we did. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

Funny that you mention it being "stolen" from a Japanese book. The first thing I told my wife after seeing the first movie was that it seemed to be a reworking of Shirley Jackson's short story The Lottery.

My wife has read the books and is bouncing off the walls for this. I actually really enjoyed the first movie too, and am looking forward to the 2nd, but like to keep picking on her about it. I was going to get her midnight tickets for tonight, but I have to ref, so I'm going to be worn out.

I thought the first two books were enjoyable. They're quick reads with plenty of action. The third book I wasn't wild about.

The first movie was a fun popcorn flick.

The market for young adult literature is flooded with fantasy series with quick, action packed storylines and a strong romance element. I would say that Hunger Games is one of the best of these series.

Of course, none of these series can hold a candle to Rowling's Harry Potter series, which is thankfully nothing like the bulk of young adult literature out there today.

i think they did one of the better jobs when it comes to books being turned into movies... it sad they ruin some books while i like the harry potter movies the books are 10x better and the movies do them no justice, also alot of the first hunger games movie was shot at dupont st forest up near hendersonville nc (an areawhich iv spent alot of time) and i recognized alot of the areas that were in the movie which was cool

I liked the first book the most of the three...hated the third book

I liked the first movie though I guess they had to leave a great deal out to make the movie short enough to be enjoyable. I will be seeing the second...I am glad to hear it was not a let down

I saw the first movie and it was okay. I thought some of the fluff could be cut out, but overall not bad. My gf saw it last night and loved it. It probably won't be too hard to convince her to see it with me.

My brother read all the books and raved about them. I saw the first movie and while I did like it, I have had some trepidation about seeing it again. Just something...distasteful about kids killing kids. That's my only negative.

*SPOILER ALERT* Someone please explain to me why Heavensby created a "wrinkle" to bring Katniss back into the games just to then formulate a plan to break her out? I don't understand what they accomplished. Could have just jumped straight into planning a rebellion without all that rigamaro right?

Happy Birthday! My wife's birthday was yesterday and she wanted to go to Charlotte today, so we went and ended up watching it at Studio Movie Grill at Epicenter. They serve food and drinks to you in the theater. IT WAS AWESOME!
