Default Chances of Wisc bringing safety blitz against us?

Considering one Tanner McEvoy might want to try and meet our QB in the backfield...?

McEvoy really only plays deep. We rarely have him in coverage, he is almost always playing center field to make sure no one beats us over the top. We will use quite a few safety blitzes but they will come from Caputo (#7) and Dez Southward (#12) and most of them are run blitzes. Caputo in particular plays kind of a S/LB hybrid position and is usually around 4-8 yards off the ball and heavily involved in containment. Southward lines up all over the field and draws a lot of single coverage in the dime or nickel sets. McEvoy has been brought on a few blitzes but not many. Most of the pressure will come from the LBers (Borland and #97 Kelly are the two main rushers) or one of the other two S's.

They could bring pressure from anywhere just as any other team. That said, I feel very, very confident that when that decision is made it will have zero to do with where TM or any other player used to play. Wisconsin plays big-time football with professional coaches, this isn't pee wee ball where little Johnny wants to tackle his best friends neighbor.

You should def. call in to SOS's radio show and warn him of this. I'm certain he would appreciate the heads up and would pass the message along to Whammy.

Until I saw the matchup, I had forgotten that he had ended up at Wisconsin. I was being half tongue in cheek bc I thought this was an interesting storyline (not quite the same thing, but a little like Brewer meeting OSU in the Outback Bowl), especially given the many many many threads on Tanner on one of the other Gamecock message boards. I'm sure he is looking forward to this game, though.

Don't let the jackasses get you down. They'd ruin your thread even if you said Carolina is going to win by 100.

Right on.
This is going to be big boy football.
We all know what Wisconsin is going to do...they are going to pound the rock with White and Gordon, and try to set up deep throws to Abbrederis...and the worst part is you know it is coming, and they dare you to stop them (love that style of ball).

Sure, we have seen the scheme against Arkansas, but as our new buddies from Wisconsin have said, and I agree, the Badgers are better at every position than the Hogs...and are probably better coached.

Rooster, I think they'll be a handful too. We don't bring our A game, we likely leave with a big L.

I very much appreciate the comment, Cack, but I have been around the block long enough to have more than a fair share of these types of slings and arrows; apparently, they are just desserts for trying to start new threads.

And now Tanner is making yet another go at QB.

McEvoy back at quarterback

Sophomore safety Tanner McEvoy took significant reps at quarterback during Monday's practice for the first time since fall camp. McEvoy made the switch to wide receiver and eventually safety after he fell out of the running for the starting quarterback job, but McEvoy has been adamant since then that he's still a quarterback at heart. McEvoy has played well at safety this season, but Monday's practice shows that the Badgers still want to see what the 6-foot-5 McEvoy can do under center.
