Default 2013 NFL playoffs: more evidence the system is bad.

I, and many others, have always felt the current system the NFL has for determining playoff teams and who plays where is bad. This year's slate of playoff games only serves to strengthen the point.

In the AFC things are okay, but the NFC is where things get dumb. Because of the division championships, the 49ers (12-4) and Saints (11-5) will have to play at Green Bay (8-7-1) and Philadelphia (10-6). Why can't the NFL just have the 12 teams with the best records participate in the playoffs and with each matchup the top team gets to play at home?

I remember a couple of years ago when Seattle made into the playoffs with a losing record and got to HOST the first round while the team they played (maybe Atlanta?) had a much better record. As we know, Seattle's home field advantage is something to be reckoned with, so it was a big deal. By comparison, this year is tame, but I think it still shows the system is a flawed and needs to be fixed.
